Liverpool wrapped up another comfortable Premier League win this weekend and their fans here in the Tavern are absolutely delighted with how the season is going!
Jurgen Klopp is really beginning to find a winning solution in his new-look Liverpool side, and a 2-1 home win over West Brom means they now sit third in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal.
But league action takes a break this week as Liverpool do battle with Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, and the landlord in the pub is predicting a seriously exciting affair.
Whilst the game might not have the breathlessness of a Premier League bout, it’s in both club’s interests to do well in the cup competitions to try and win as much silverware as possible.
But how should Klopp line up his troops for the game against high-flying Spurs?
With that in mind, here’s our Liverpool XI that will surprise Pochettino’s team on Tuesday night…
GK: Simon Mignolet

Belgian international Simon Mignolet should be given a chance in this fourth round tie.
He’s been decent for Liverpool since his move from Sunderland and with Loris Karius obviously number one in the league, Mignolet is a perfect replacement with enough quality to do the job on Tuesday.
RB: Nathaniel Clyne

Nathaniel Clyne has been in great form in recent weeks, and we all know what he offers to this very offensive-minded Liverpool side.
Plenty of pace going forward and defensive stability at the back- he’s the perfect right-back to have at this level.
CB: Ragnar Klavan

Again, it’s great that Liverpool have a player like Ragnar Klavan to come into the first-team side for big cup games like this.
The Estonian veteran has plenty of experience playing in the top flight in Germany and he should be good enough to keep Spurs at bay on Tuesday.
CB: Dejan Lovren

With Matip taking a break, we think Dejan Lovren should be the man to start alongside Klavan for this one.
He’s plenty of Premier League and Cup experience from his time with Southampton and he’s a solid centre-back too, and one that seems to keep improving.
LB: Alberto Moreno

Whilst he had a horrendous start to the season, Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno should probably get another chance to prove himself once again to the Liverpool faithful.
Jurgen Klopp doesn’t have a bad thing to say about the Spaniard when it comes to his training ground work so why not give him a chance in the cup.
CDM: Lucas Leiva

Everyone’s favourite Liverpool stalwart Lucas Leiva is still at the club and still performing when given the chance.
He offers fantastic protection to his back-four and is generally an extremely reliable man to have infront of the defence.
CDM: Georginio Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum is coming back from injury and whilst he didn’t make it back into the starting XI for the West Brom game, he could start the tie against Spurs.
He’s been solid enough since his summer move from Newcastle but a little underwhelming going forward.
A cup game could give us the chance to see the real forward-thinking player we know from his days with the Toon.
RM: Adam Lallana

Adam Lallana has been sparkling for Liverpool this season and we’d love to see him start the game against Spurs.
He’s by far one of the most skillful English players playing in the Premier League this season, and he’d give the Tottenham full-backs something to think about if he were to start the game.
CAM: Phillipe Coutinho

Coutinho was absolutely fantastic for the Reds against West Brom, and he’s playing some of the best football of his career.
Dropping him to the bench for a rest might be a smart choice but in a game Klopp will want to win, retaining his quality going forward might outweigh the desire to pull him out of the starting XI.
LM: Daniel Sturridge

Didn’t start the Liverpool game but cup action will give Daniel Sturridge the chance to force his way back into the starting eleven for Premier League games.
If he plays well against Spurs, it might give manager Jurgen Klopp a real selection headache, with some important league games on the horizon.
ST: Divock Origi

It’s a testament to the strength that Liverpool currently have in their ranks, when they can leave players like Divock Origi on the bench for long periods of time.
Despite having a fantastic end to the previous campaign, he’s found first team opportunities tough to come by this season.
But a start in the cup could really give him the chance to shine and put his name into the hat for a starting Premier League place.
