Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating the start of the Premier League season to get their first glimpse of new boy Michy Batshuayi.
Signed for a staggering £33 million, fans have high hopes for the Belgian forward – and many are hoping he does the business right away.
In reality, adapting to a new country, a new team and new tactics can be tough – so The Blues will no doubt have to do all they can to get the best out of the young forward.
Rumours in the Tavern have been flying for weeks over what might be the best way to get the best out of him, with many fans suggesting that Antonio Conte might opt to utilise two strikers, with Diego Costa alongside Batshuayi.
We haven’t seen a team use two strikers in the Premier League for a while, so it would definitely be interesting to see how it turns out..
With that, THIS line up is how Chelsea can get the best out of Michy Batshuayi (4-2-4)
GK – Thibaut Courtois
The first name on the team sheet.
Despite a rocky season last year, there is no doubting just how good Thibaut Courtois actually is.
Easily the best young keeper in world football, and he will no doubt become one of the best of all time.
A worthy successor to Petr Cech.
LB – Cesar Azpilicueta
Many fans will no doubt be hoping that Cesar Azpilicueta makes his way back to the right hand side of the Chelsea defence – but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
He has performed admirably during his spell on the left, and expect that to continue next season.
Mr. Reliable.
CB – Kurt Zouma
Making his way back from injury, Kurt Zouma was unstoppable before a horrific knee injury around the turn of the year ruled him out of the rest of the season.
He has built quite a cult following here in the Tavern for his exploits, and once fit again our Landlord is backing him to get back to his best.
CB – Kalidou Koulibaly
The final piece of the Chelsea puzzle.
With John Terry likely in his final year with Chelsea, and Gary Cahill often unreliable; a new central defender is at the top of the Chelsea shopping list as we reach the business end of the Transfer Window.
Koulibaly has long been a Chelsea target, and after a number of bids – the deal is expected to occur sooner rather than later.
He will add some real stability to the Chelsea back line in place of Cahill.
RB – Ola Aina
Chelsea fans in the Tavern have been longing for a youth promotion into the first team for years; and it might actually happen next year.
With Branislav Ivanovic injured, Ola Aina has been given a chance in the Chelsea first team during pre-season; and he has looked spectacular.
He will definitely be given a chance to impress early on…will he be able to keep it up? We hope so.
CM – N’Golo Kante
A summer signing for The Blues, N’Golo Kante will be a rock in this new look Chelsea midfield.
He was at the core of everything good that Leicester did last season, and he will only get better with the quality of players playing around him.
A midfield stalwart; he is exactly what Chelsea needed
CM – Nemanja Matic
N’bolo Kante’s arrival will relieve some pressure off of Nemanja Matic; and he will definitely be better for it.
He looked disappointing last season, mainly because he was left by himself all too often defensively; and N’Golo Kante will be able to support him in this manner.
This will allow him to push forward a bit more, and utilise the powerful runs and quality shots that he has in his locker.
LM- Eden Hazard
Another man that had a poor season last year, Eden Hazard has been on fire in pre-season.
A double against Real Madrid proved that he was back to his best, and long may it continue.
Our Landlord is backing him to become player of the year once again last year.
RM – Willian
Chelsea’s player of the year last season, Willian is the complete midfielder.
Able to offer a threat going forward, a strong defensive mantra and an unstoppable set piece; what a player.
FWD – Diego Costa
Despite constant rumours in the Tavern linking Costa with a move away, Chelsea fans are really hoping he stays put.
On his day he is an unstoppable striker, and he proved in his first season in London that he has everything to be a top Premier League star.
He could be even better with a partner up front…
FWD – Michy Batshuayi
The new man up front.
Batshuayi has looked good in pre season so far; sharp, pace, technically gifted. He looks perfect for the Premier League!
His pace will combine well with Diego Costa up front, and they will no doubt form a deadly partnership.
What a duo.
