Talk is as always this season amongst our punters around Jurgen Klopp’s team’s defensive errors, after another calamity midweek in their Champions League game.

They’ll face a tough task away at St. James’ Park with the Toon Army beginning to show signs of huge improvements despite the 1-0 defeat last time out against fellow promoted team, Brighton. With the returning Philippe Coutinho, Klopp could opt for the ‘Fab four’ once again but it’s at the back and especially the absolute chaos surrounding the goalkeeping situation that needs some serious addressing once again.

Our main man the Landlord thinks this Liverpool side can give Newcastle a real headache this Sunday.

Simon Mignolet

After saving the last gasp penalty last weekend and Loris Karuis’ mishap mid-week, Klopp will want to start the keeper to once again try to take bull by the horns.

A big performance and a clean sheet will go a long way to lay claim to the Liverpool No.1 jersey. Indeed, being helped in defence will help his cause.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

With long-term right-back Nathaniel Clyne out of the picture at the moment due to injury, it gives the youngster a chance to prove he can cut it at the top.

Having come through the ranks on Merseyside, the fans will be desperate for TAA to make the jump.

Joel Matip

Klopp remains faithful to the centre-back pairing of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren as they seek once again to try and find this all-important clean sheet.

A big game is needed to repay the faith shown in him by Klopp this season despite the slating they’ve received.

Dejan Lovren

Recently returning from injury, Lovren has reignited his defensive partnership with Matip.

Again, they’ll be looking at adding to the two clean sheets they have this season and try to simmer down the failures at the back when it comes to set pieces.

Alongside Matip, he’ll also need a big game and to look solid as the January transfer window is only three months away.

Alberto Moreno

Having endured a pretty gruelling start to his Liverpool career and being held responsible for recent defensive errors, the competition with Scottish left-back and new signing Robertson seems to be spurring him on.

The left-back played midweek and Klopp should be starting to try and get a settled back four. Moreno can slowly start to impress and find his form once again along with his teammates.

James Milner

James Milner’s ability to play anywhere across the midfield could prove instrumental in getting the win. After making a huge difference last weekend, he’ll be looking at more of the same.

Klopp should use Milner’s experience and energy the reliable player brings. He can be the key to letting the ‘Fab 4’ go and express themselves while he holds back and protects the back line.

Jordan Henderson

Liverpool skipper Henderson is trying his best to get this team playing the way it needs to, to win matches. Scoring at the weekend, he’ll want to continue leading by example in a tough time for the Reds.

Henderson calls for the team to be more clinical have to be echoed, otherwise it’s going to be another frustrating afternoon for the England midfielder.

Philippe Coutinho

Looking like he’s put the saga of the transfer window behind him, Coutinho has come back from his injury in inspired form.

Maybe he’s using it as a window to make Barcelona stump up the cash come January or perhaps he could be fully committed to the Liverpool cause.

Either way the faithful are happy he’s back amongst the goals and making a massive difference to the front line.

Mohammed Salah

A part of the newly formed ‘Fab 4’, the interlinking forwards have looked good this season. Liverpool’s only bright point. Mo Salah has hit the ground running and will want to continue that form in the Premier League.

With the pace and attacking flavour he brings to the table, Salah is already a fan favourite and will want to keep it that way.

Roberto Firmino

Bagging again this week in the Champions League, Firmino will want the recent hot streak to continue.

Klopp has managed to fit all four players in who were fighting for the front three places, but for how long we don’t know, with the way he’s chopped and changed this year already.

Still, Firmino will continue to give the Liverpool boss a good type of headache going forward.

Saido Mane

Returning from a domestic ban after three games out, Liverpool fans will be delighted to have the Senegal winger back into the team. Alongside the other three forwards, the interlinking and swapping of positions can provide the Newcastle defence with a tough task to contain them.

Mane will want to mark his return with a bang.
