Man City fans here in the Transfer Tavern have high hopes for the rest of the season due to the way their team is playing at the moment.

Unbeaten since mid-January, Man City have made a big improvement in the league compared to how they started the season.

With Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero now finding their feet and providing goals week in, week out, City are slowly but surely pushing their way up to title contention.

Now out of the Champions League, Man City can turn their focus onto both the FA Cup and the Premier League, as they attempt to win their first bit of silverware in almost three years.

Something which manager Pep Guardiola has been dying to get his hands on since his managerial career began in Manchester last year.

Taking on struggling Hull City this Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, let’s take a look at the side that Guardiola should field, if Man City are to continue their great league form – according to our landlord…

GK: Willy Caballero

After Claudio Bravo was dropped from the first team in late January after some questionable blunders, Caballero has stepped in for the Chilean and so far has done a great job doing so.

RB: Aleksandar Kolarov

Playing the most minutes out of any City defender this season, Kolarov has been a consistent feature in the Citizens defence and it will remain that way on Saturday.

Our landlord reckons Otamendi has improved leaps and bounds in comparison to last season, and Guardiola recognises this too.

The Argentine should keep his place in a relatively unchanged City defence against Hull.

CB: John Stones

Although serious questions were raised when Stones made the move from Merseyside to Manchester, the hype around the 22-year-old has now settled down, and it shows in Stones’ consistent performances each week.

LB: Gael Clichy

It’s the Frenchman’s sixth year in Manchester, and with his contract shortly coming to an end, Guardiola will have to make the decision on whether he decided to seek-put for a new left-back to fill Clichy’s shoes.

RM: Jesus Navas

A pair of the brightest eyes you will ever see in the beautiful game, Navas is just as dazzling on the wing!

Our landlord thinks that he should start on the right flank to give City that pace and flair out wide.

CM: Yaya Toure

A shell of his former self at City, Toure has been criticised over the past few years for his poor work-rate and tendency to show a careless attitude.

Nevertheless, he continues to retain his place as a crucial asset for City’s midfield.

CM: Kevin De Bruyne

A game changer in so many of City’s dismal performances this season, ‘KDB’ is the bright spark in which every team needs when they’re having a bad day at the office.

De Bruyne’s attention to detail when distributing the ball around the park makes him one of the league’s best today.

LM: David Silva

It’s evident that the Spaniard would favour a central role, but he can be just has deadly out wide.

Not having the pace and acceleration that Navas may have, Silva makes up for it with his maestro-like passing and remarkable creativity.

CF: Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane is on fire.

His performance last weekend against Arsenal was astonishing to say the least, the German made right-back Hector Bellerin look like a school-boy, passing him with ease on several occasions.
