We here in the Transfer Tavern feared that Leicester City may have a second season syndrome after winning the Premier League last term.

They have had a mixed start to their first ever campaign as title holders – though following a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace last weekend, could this be their chance to turn things around?

With the prospect of Spurs this weekend their supporters in the Tavern are still feeling optimistic about the season ahead.

Following a great run in the Champions League, coupled with things looking up domestically, our landlord here in the Tavern is still tipping the East Midlands outfit to have a great campaign.

Tottenham have been in imperious form themselves of late despite a relative hiccup at Bournemouth this past weekend.

Still, we’re tipping the Foxes maintain what they started against Palace and we think they will be able to pick up three points against Tottenham.

So with that in mind, here’s our Leicester XI who we think will do the business against Spurs this weekend…

GK: KASPER SCHMEICHEL

Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was key as  Leicester City won the title last season and they did well to hang onto him this summer.

Despite adding another great keeper in Zieler, for us Kasper will always be their number one

RB: DANNY SIMPSON

The former Newcastle and Manchester United defender was a hero last season and went a tad unnoticed with the outstanding displays of the likes of Mahrez and Vardy.

His attacking prowess will cause issues for Tottenham that’s for sure.

CB: ROBERT HUTH

The former Chelsea defender has been a rock at the back so far in the Champions League as the Foxes’ find themselves unbeaten.

However domestically we are still waiting to see the best from the giant centre-back.

He still has a lot to give and, alongside Wes Morgan, they forge quite a partnership- that at times can be unbeatable.

CB: WES MORGAN

Despite not being as consistent as he was at the start of last year, he still leads from the back in a very strong minded Leicester City side.

Being the captain of the club, and for all that he has done for them in his time at the club he’ll forever be a hero in their fans eyes.

His strength will cause problems for a very weak strike force at Spurs, in terms of matching his physicality.

LB: CHRISTIAN FUCHS

The Austrian has been one of the standout stars this season for Leicester City.

Finally grabbing his first goal for the club in amazing fashion, he’ll be riding a crest of a wave.

CDM: DANIEL AMARTEY

When N’Golo Kante departed for Chelsea, many felt this could be what triggers the downhill spiral of the club.

However, they acted fast and bought in Mendy with the expectation of Kante leaving – though unfortunately, due to injuries, his selection has been limited.

CM: DANNY DRINKWATER

A key in the success of Leicester City, having been there through thick and thin he deserves all the success he gets his way.

Having like many never been given the chance at Manchester United – he is showing what they are missing out on and a player like him would be perfect for what they need right now.

LW: MARK ALBRIGHTON

Who’d of guessed this guy would be one of the most underrated players in the division and also be in a title winning side after being released by the divisions worst team Aston Villa.

This guy has the work rate of a horse and never let’s up, he gives 100% every game and will be vital in his side getting a result at Spurs this weekend.

RW: RIYAD MAHREZ

This guy was arguably the best player in the Leicester City side that won the Premier League last season.

He is, however, still waiting for things to happen for him this season- a slow start but we are sure the Ballon D’or shortlisted player will come good again for the Foxes and where better to start than at a Spurs this Saturday.

CF: AHMED MUSA

The Nigerian who signed from Russian club CSKA Moscow in the summer has had a mixed start to life in England – having struggled at times so far in his short tenure at the club.

Still, he bagged his first goal recently and could look to scare the Spurs defence with his searing pace.

ST: JAMIE VARDY

Despite being dropped to the bench for the game with Crystal Palace over the course of last weekend, the England international remains a huge threat in front of goal.
