Arguably there is no side in the Premier League more stacked with attacking talent than Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola has one of the best strikers in the world to call upon in Sergio Aguero, while Kelechi Iheanacho has proved an able deputy and has one of the best goals per minute ratios in the league.

On top of that, Nolito is able to play up top if need be while Kevin De Bruyne was used there against Barcelona – albeit with little effect.

There have been a couple of times this season however when City could have used another frontman to ease the burden on Aguero and Iheanacho.

The former has a history of injury problems, while the latter cannot be relied upon fully considering his age and the fact he is still cutting his teeth in the Premier League.

There have also been times where City have arguably missed the presence of a stronger striker in the mould of Edin Dzeko or Wilfried Bony.

Here are FOUR strikers Pep should sign to ensure they don’t struggle any more.

MAURO ICARDI

With most top strikers enjoying strong Champions League campaigns with their current sides, it’s very unlikely they’ll move to the Etihad in January.

One man who City wouldn’t have that problem with is Mauro Icardi. The Argentine striker is currently playing in the Europa League with Inter Milan after a disappointing couple of seasons from the Italian side.

That’s not to say Icardi is to blame; the 23-year-old has an impressive 57 goals in 103 games since joining and is currently on for his best season yet after netting 10 times in twelve games.

LUCAS ALARIO

A relative unknown on our shores, Lucas Alario is making a name for himself in Argentina.

The 24-year-old has made a solid start to his River Plate career, scoring 10 goals in 22 games and attracting a lot of interest from European sides.

The Argentine could offer something different to City’s attack with his aerial presence but would more likely be used to grab goals late in games with his clever positioning helping him be in the right place at the right time.

Although it would take him a little time to settle, he would have fellow countryman like Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi to help him settle and could have gelled with his teammates by next season if City sign him in January.

NABIL FEKIR

Unlike the first two on this list – who are both out and out strikers – Nabil Fekir seems more like
the type of player Guardiola would use.

Comfortable playing in midfield or up front, the 23-year-old is as creative as he is predatory in front of goal and would excel at bringing other players into the game.

Pep likes his players to do more than one job in keeping with his universal approach to the game and – as a player with tricky dribbling and fine vision – Fekir would fit the mould and could play a similar role to the one Lionel Messi does at Barcelona.

GABRIEL BARBOSA

Pep already made a move for one young Brazilian this summer in Gabriel Jesus, but how about another?

The 20-year-old moved to Inter in the summer as a result of his goalscoring exploits for Santos but it appears the Italian side aren’t too keen on him, such is the mess the Nerazzurri find themselves in.

Exceptional the Olympics, the Samba star could form a wonderful parternship with Gabriel Jesus for years to come.
