The return of the Premier League can’t come soon enough for all of our punters here in the Transfer Tavern but especially keen to see it return are the Liverpool lot by the bar.
Ahead of the international break the Reds fans saw their team cruise to a 6-1 victory over Watford at Anfield which led them to go top of the Premier League tree, a point clear of Chelsea, with just over a quarter of the season gone.
This weekend sees them go up against Southampton at St. Mary’s and now they’ll be looking to streak away from the pack and win their first league crown for nearly three decades.
Whenever these two clubs meet, the notion of players moving between the two is brought up amongst our punters, with the Reds having purchased many a Saint over the last few years, to varied effect.
This next period could be pivotal in the title race, particularly with the January transfer window around the corner and our landlord reckons if the club sign these four midfielders, they could be quids in for the trophy come May…
Geoffrey Kondogbia
Whilst Liverpool have some hugely creative players in their side they don’t have what you’d call a destroyer in midfield.
Jordan Henderson, Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum are all fine Premier League players none of them strikes you as an enforcer and that could be the last piece of the Reds title-winning puzzle.
Kondogbia would be class and may fancy jumping ship given Inter Milan’s woes.
Max Meyer
Another side who are struggling domestically this season has to be Schalke in the Bundesliga.
They are only just about finding their feet after losing their first five games and so they need to be wary of losing their star assets in January.
Meyer is certainly one of those with incredible dribbling ability and would undoubtedly shine under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.

We’ve seen with Sadio Mane what the Reds can do with some added pace, so why not go for another option who is somewhat similar?
Ntep likes to get the ball out wide and attack the full-backs with his speed and power whilst he’s also not afraid to put a shift in going the other way.
He sounds like the archetypal Jurgen Klopp footballer and we’ve seen that when the German gets hold of such a player, things usually go well.
Gary Medel
If the Reds do not want to spend as much money as they may have in order to sign Geoffrey Kondogbia, Gary Medel might just be the perfect alternative.
The Chilean will throw himself into absolutely any challenge without regard for his safety and will then give the ball to a team-mate to see the attack start.
He, like Kondogbia, is at Inter Milan at the moment and may also fancy getting out of an increasingly poor situation.
