Those in the Transfer Tavern that think Manchester United are not going to spend in the upcoming January transfer window must be kidding themselves.
Indeed, our landlord thinks there is simply no way Jose Mourinho can be happy with his squad as it is at the moment and with the finances he clearly demonstrated in the summer he has available to him, more acquisitions are almost a formality.
The Red Devils have not been great again this season with them currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and looking a far worse outfit than the current title challengers so something simply needs to be done.
The Old Trafford faithful expect to be challenging for every competition but areas of the team do not look up to scratch with midfield being no exception.
Our landlord thinks the Red Devils will have to do something then and reckons these four midfielders could join the side once the window opens…
Marco Verratti

One thing you’d say United lack in midfield, particularly in the central areas, is movement and pace.
The likes of Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini are all relatively slow players and they need someone to be in their to pick up the clever runs from opposition attacking midfielders.
Step forward, then, Marco Verratti who has bags of pace and can mix it with the best, too.
Isco

The Spanish midfielder is a cut above most and again showed what he can do with a bit of space against England at Wembley earlier this week. He only needs a little bit of room to set himself and he’ll more than likely deliver a great pass or a goal.
United need someone like that in their team whilst Isco needs to play more than he does at Real Madrid. It’s a deal that makes sense, then.
Rafinha

Rafinha doesn’t get to play as much as he could at Barcelona thanks to their sensational midfield and so he’d surely consider the idea of moving to Manchester United.
He’s still in his early 20’s so he’s got plenty to offer and improve on whilst the experience he will have earned whilst playing for Barcelona could prove pivotal in playing for United.
Someone will surely snap him up soon, Mourinho needs to make sure it’s him.
Ivan Perisic

Whilst United do have some good pace on the flanks with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard knocking around you do get the sense that they’d rather be playing in more central areas with them cutting inside often.
What United need then is a wide midfielder that is going to get on the ball and go outside the full back too and the Croatian Perisic is a real master at that.
