£40m Liverpool starlet on the radar of several Premier League clubs

Wolves are said to be leading a pack of Premier League clubs chasing the signature of Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliot, who has been valued at around £40m according to TalkSport. Elliot has been frustrated with his playing time under new boss Arne Slot, starting only one Premier League game this season.

He has in fact appeared in the lowest amount of games of his Liverpool career this campaign, making just 25 appearances in all competitions. The majority of those have been from the bench, and the 22 year old has publicly stated he is considering his future.

Elliot joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2019 as a 16-year-old. He became a regular under Jurgen Klopp in the 2022/2023 season and has spent the better part of the last two seasons as one of Liverpool’s key men in midfield.

Injuries as well as the incoming Arne Slot, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister have pushed Elliot down the pecking order and he could look for a fresh challenge to reignite his career.

Wolves tracking Elliot

Wolves are reportedly the front runners of a number of Premier League clubs for the player’s signature. Set to deposit £62.5m from the sale of Matheus Cunha, Wolves are said to be planning to back manager Vitor Pereira this summer. Elliot is someone they are keen on, and he would likely slot into the number 10 role behind striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Newcastle and Brighton are amongst the other clubs linked with interest in the England U-21 midfielder and Elliot may have several proposals to choose from come summer.

Comfortable in the number 8 or number 10 role, Elliot can be a useful midfield option. He is crafty on the ball and has a knack for a goal, pulling the strings for his side on his day.

The player is a life long Liverpool fan and admits his preference would be to stay with the Premier League champions.

Speaking to ECHO in April, Elliot said: “I think it’s been a lot more difficult for me because I obviously had that injury at the start.”

“But at the same time, you need to be here for the team, work as hard as you can and when the opportunities come on the pitch…”

“A lot of times this season it’s almost been [coming on] when we’ve been losing or drawing, so it is about trying to change the game, try and turn it around and have a positive impact. But, you know, any minutes for Liverpool are amazing.”

He added: “I hope that I can push on. This is my team, I am committed to them and it’s just a situation that is always going to have a lot of talk.”

“I just need to think about what is best for my future, my career and as much as I want it to be here you never know what is going to happen around the corner.”

With Liverpool reportedly set to reinvest heavily in the squad this summer to mount a title defence, it unlikely Elliot’s fortunes will change. The player may consider his options should any interest become firm.
