Liverpool have made a promising unbeaten start to Andoni Iraola’s reign, with the Reds taking nine points from their opening five Premier League matches.
The new-look side have recorded wins over Ipswich Town and Bournemouth alongside three draws, while they have also made a positive start in Europe. Alexander Isak has finally found his feet, and several of Liverpool’s summer arrivals are beginning to make their mark.
Despite that encouraging beginning, Liverpool do not appear to be finished when it comes to strengthening Iraola’s squad.
The Reds are reportedly continuing to keep tabs on a midfielder who has established himself at one of Europe’s biggest clubs, despite recently committing his future to Real Madrid.
Liverpool Maintaining Contact Over Tchouaméni
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have maintained contact with the representatives of Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni.
The 26-year-old has recently agreed a new contract that is set to keep him at the Bernabéu until 2031, but that has seemingly not stopped Liverpool from monitoring his situation.
The Reds are not currently pushing to sign the France international, although their interest could be revived if his circumstances in Madrid change.
Tchouaméni has reportedly made just three appearances so far this season, potentially leaving the door open for a change in his situation under José Mourinho. Real Madrid were also previously believed to have been prepared to consider offers in the region of €80m during the summer.
The midfielder has enjoyed an impressive career since emerging at Bordeaux before joining Monaco in 2020. He spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Ligue 1 club, establishing himself as one of France’s leading young midfielders before earning a move to Real Madrid in 2022.
Since moving to Spain, Tchouaméni – described as “quality” by former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti – has become a regular option for Madrid and has collected major honours including the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey. He has also become an established France international, winning the Nations League and featuring in the 2022 and 2026 World Cups.
For Liverpool, his ability to operate as a defensive midfielder while also contributing to the build-up could make him an appealing option.
The fact that Tchouaméni has now committed himself to Madrid until 2031 makes any potential deal considerably more complicated, but Liverpool’s continued contact suggests they are not completely closing the door on a future move.
