Manchester United are enduring what can only be described as a disappointing campaign, whilst Arsenal are flying high and fighting for their first Premier League title in 12 years.
Despite the strong position the Gunners find themselves in, not everyone is happy with their position at the club and Arsenal still aren’t as financially as United, who despite their struggles are still one of the richest sides in world football.
With such a strong and historic rivalry between the two, it’s always difficult to image high profile transfers taking place that involve both teams. That said, we’ve seen it in recent years with Danny Welbeck and Robin Van Persie.
Our Man United regulars strongly believe they’d be able to prize some players away from Arsenal’s clutches, should they make an offer, and they’ve urged the Red Devils to do exactly that- which is annoying the Gooners at the other end of the bar.
Could it really happen? Well, these five targets have been thrown about and our landlord believes there’s a slight possibility for any of them taking place.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The England international is highly-regarded by Arsene Wenger, having been developed at Arsenal still being snatched from Southampton as a teenager, but the winger has struggled due to injuries. Because of that, his position within the squad is questionable.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has featured regularly this season, starting the past few games, but it’s fair to say his performances have been pretty lacklustre. With Theo Walcott, Joel Campbell and the developing duo of Alex Iwobi and Jeff Reine-Adelaide providing competition, a regular starting spot for Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t guaranteed.
He also sees his future in the middle of the park but Arsenal may not be able to provide that opportunity, as they currently boast Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin, amongst others.
Theo Walcott
Much like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, injuries have hampered Theo Walcott’s career at the Emirates and his recent ten year anniversary in North London raised questions- is Walcott good enough and has he failed to live up to the hype?
At the backend of last season and the beginning of this, Walcott was on fire. However, injury problems ruled him out for a while and in his absence Olivier Giroud reclaimed the first-choice striker position. Walcott hasn’t been able to win that back.
With Arsenal reportedly in the market for a new striker this summer, and there being plenty of competition on the wings, Walcott could seek regular first-team football elsewhere and the opportunity of a striking position at Old Trafford could prove to be too tempting to turn down.
Hector Bellerin
Hector Bellerin is Arsenal’s biggest breakthrough star of the recent years and the young Spaniard is a crucial part of the Gunners defence. Whilst his adoration for the North London giants is clear, United could provide stronger financial incentive.
United are looking to build an exciting, young contingent of stars at Old Trafford and whoever they appoint at the club could attract names like Bellerin. Arsenal would be desperate not to sell though, and they don’t need to, so negotiating would be difficult.
Aaron Ramsey
Arsenal’s FA Cup hero, Aaron Ramsey has had a difficult rise to the top. His leg break, poor performances and injuries since have left him a spilt figure in the eyes of the fans, with his inconsistent performances questioning whether he warrants a regular spot in the starting line-up.
If when Santi Cazorla returns Ramsey is once again ousted to the right of midfield, or from the starting team altogether, the Welshman may have a decision to make. United tried to sign him before, when he rejected them for Arsenal, but a fresh start at Old Trafford could be appealing.
Jack Wilshere
The apple in the eye of many Arsenal fans, Jack Wilshere is highly regarded despite his inability to play regular football due to injury. In his absence, the Arsenal midfield has got stronger and stronger- raising the question as to where exactly Wilshere fits in.
Wilshere is Arsenal through-and-through, so it would be difficult to see him swapping North London red for the same colours in Manchester, but a lucrative offer, accompanied by first-team assurances, could see Wilshere switch allegiances.
Of all the names on this list, Wilshere would hurt Arsenal the most if he were to leave.
