In many ways, Chelsea fans have been left unimpressed by a lot of the transfer business that has concerned their club so far this summer.
First of all, Petr Cech was allowed to join London rivals Arsenal whom he will undoubtedly strengthen, then of course came the arrival of Radamel Falcao on loan who was a total disaster on a similar deal at Manchester United last season.
Then Asmir Begovic joined which most Chelsea fans were in agreement with then yesterday Patrick Bamford was allowed to join Crystal Palace on loan when Blues fans wanted to see him achieve his breakthrough with them this term.
In the grand scheme of things of course, these worries are nothing major because Chelsea’s squad is pretty much complete compared to the rest but with every transfer window comes a form of obligation to excite the fans with some eye-catching reinforcements.
Jose Mourinho has spoke about wanting one more player this summer and we imagine that player is a centre back with the Blues boss having gone public in his admiration of Everton’s John Stones recently.
With Chelsea having seen a £20 million bid knocked back by the Toffees, the expectation is that the Blues will be giving Roberto Martinez an offer he can’t refuse in a matter of days, if not weeks.
But if that doesn’t come to fruition, what other business could Chelsea be completing this summer because we know not everything Mourinho says can be taken as gospel?
Here are five realistic dream signings that Chelsea would like to see their team conclude in the remainder of the transfer window.

Pedro
The latest from The Express is that Chelsea have moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to give Barcelona’s Pedro a new home this transfer window.
An unhappy substitute behind Barca’s famed MSN of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar at the minute, despite the Spanish international’s ability, he isn’t breaking up that partnership any time soon so a move does seem to be on the cards in the coming weeks.
The reports from The Express reference Tutto Mercato claims that a four-year deal has been put on the table by the Blues.
Why would this move be a dream signing? Well, if Chelsea suffered injuries to either Eden Hazard or Willian, they could call on reliable reinforcements in Pedro rather than calamity duo Juan Cuadrado and Mohamed Salah.
John Stones
As mentioned at the outset, the Blues have already seen a £20 million bid rejected immediately by Everton but we fully expect Chelsea to get their man in a matter of days, if not weeks.
When a club such as Chelsea comes calling, their overtures can be hard to resist and for a player like Stones who has been on the fringes of the senior England team, a big move such as this may boost his chances of becoming a fixture in Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016.
With Gary Cahill and John Terry the undisputed first team partnership at Stamford Bridge right now, despite Terry’s Duracell bunny-like abilities, Chelsea will need to replace him in the coming years and in Stones, he looks a ready-made heir to his throne.
Axel Witsel
The latest from the London Evening Standard is that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has played down claims that the Blues are interested in acquiring Zenit Saint-Petersburg’s Axel Witsel this transfer window.
A Belgian international with plenty of experience of course, Chelsea are well stocked in the midfield area with Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ramires and John Obi Mikel all being available to Moutinho but with Mikel having previously expressed a desire to leave this summer, perhaps a replacement will be sought.
Mourinho claimed Chelsea have ‘no space’ for an additional midfielder such as Witsel right now, but that is right now.
If Mikel were to leave after his long association with the Blues, we think Witsel would be the prime candidate to replace him and after all, he enjoyed something of a dream partnership with Matic in their time spent together at Benfica.
Baba Rahman
Not a lot is known about this guy here in the tavern but Ghanaian international Baba Rahman is the name very much fancied to take over from Filipe Luis as Chelsea’s substitute left back.
Filipe Luis is of course rejoining former club Atletico Madrid this summer and it appears despite Mourinho’s claims of wanting one more player this summer, he may need two in Stones and possibly this guy too.
Currently playing with FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga, the lesser known outfit actually finished fifth in the German top flight last season and the latest is that even Real Madrid are taking a look at Rahman so rest assured Chelsea fans, he must be worth his salt.
Aaron Cresswell
The stories linking West Ham United’s Aaron Cresswell with a transfer to Chelsea have died down over the last month or so but given the competition for Baba Rahman’s signature, we think Jose Mourinho needs to have a contingency plan in place.
While West Ham would love to keep the uncapped Cresswell at Upton Park of course, Chelsea do boast a lot of power in the transfer market and could surprise their London rivals with a large bid.
Cresswell shone in his first full season in the Premier League last term and even won West Ham’s Hammer of the Year gong for his consistent performances.
A move for Cresswell would also of course boost Chelsea’s homegrown player quota with Gary Cahill, John Terry and Ruben Loftus-Cheek the only Englishmen in the Blues’ first team squad at present, despite others like Cesc Fabregas being considered applicable.
