With the international break over, the punters here in the Transfer Tavern breathe a sigh of relief, as they count down the days until the Premier League returns.
Unlike the usual drab ending of the international break, however, the 2-0 victory over France last night left many punters staying behind to get a few more rounds in.
Brilliant goals from Delle Alli and Wayne Rooney secured an impressive victory over next summer’s favourites for Euro 2016, as both teams united together under the Wembley lights following the recent tragic events in Paris.
The impressive display from the Three Lions was a real statement of intent, and got many fans in the Transfer Tavern discussing next summer’s squad in excitement.
Perhaps what was particularly telling about last night’s result was, unlike against Spain, Hodgson picked a team that was genuinely in form, and his decision very much paid off.
It was also great to see many youngsters thrown into the action, and below are the five we believe Hodgson absolutely must take on the plane next summer.

Delle Alli
Alli took his goal like a true pro yesterday, and the youngster is only destined for bigger and better things. The Tottenham midfielder put in yet another mature display in the centre of the park yesterday, just like he has all season.
Though Alli is young, he has proved that he is ready to cut it on the big stage, and will give the likes of Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshere genuine competition.
Eric Dier
Alli’s midfield partner, Dier was also equally impressive like he has been all season, and if the two continue to flourish for Tottenham all season, then why wouldn’t you go with a partnership that is clearly effective.
Dier’s versatility to also be able to play in defence also means he is a genuine asset to the squad.
Harry Kane
There should be no question marks over this one, Kane and Rooney should certainly be starting up top together at next summer’s tournament. Kane put in another fine display last night, with his unselfish hold up play causing the France back line many problems.
Kane looks set to have another fine season in the Premier League, and deserves his place far more than the injury prone Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck.
John Stones
Another player who should have no question marks over his place in the squad, Stones continues to look like a man who has been playing at this level for a long long time.
His composure on the ball is excellent, and not only should he be on the plane, but he should arguably be starting alongside Chris Smalling, not Gary Cahill.
Luke Shaw
As you may or may not have noticed, Shaw is recovering excellently from his double leg-break that he suffered in September against PSV Eindhoven, and could potentially return as early as February or March.
Providing Shaw gets a decent amount of game time in, he should also be on the plane. He was fantastic at the start of the season, and is a far better option than Kieran Gibbs, who continues to find himself on the bench for Arsenal.
