Yet another season goes by and Arsenal haven’t got their hands on a Premier League trophy with the drought stretching well over a decade. Fans have got to the predictable #WengerOut stage and the Arsenal manager has some serious rebuilding and strengthening to do this summer if he wants to turn the club’s fortunes around.
Obviously , the cry from the fans is in the Transfer Tavern is “SPEND! SPEND! SPEND !” and Wenger will be expected to splash the cash on some world class players but whether he will do so is a serious question given his track record.
However, there is some talent out there who could do a fair job and wouldn’t cost much in transfer fee. In fact, they wouldn’t cost anything at all in that regard.

Nicolas N’Koulou
Nicolas N’Koulou is a central defender and the 25-year-old Cameroon international is another who’s contract with French club Marseille is set to expire this summer. He has age on his side and is tipped toh ave plenty of potential and Arsenal have been linked to him in previous windows.
With Per Mertesacker on the decline and Gabriel proving to be erratic so far, Wenger desperately needs to strengthen the centre back spot alongside Laurent Koscielney. N’Koulou would certainly provide the vital depth at that position that Arsenal require.
Sofiane Feghouli
Sofiane Feghouli has made it clear to Valencia that he would not be signing a new contract and is looking to move on this summer. The Algerian international primarily plays as a right winger but is also effective as an attacking midfielder.
Arsenal’s problems on the wing this season have been one of the reason’s for their poor season with Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain having extremely disappointing seasons. Alexis Sanchez has had a fairly quiet season too by his standards and it has only been the recent emergence of Aleix Iwobi that has added some spark.
Rumors are afloat that Walcott or Chamberlain could leave this summer and Feghouli could be a useful replacement for either of them.
Gregory Van Der Wiel
Gregory Van Der Wiel plays at right-back for French champions Paris-Saint Germain and is a free agent this summer. Van Der Wiel, 28 will be entering the peak of his career and has already put in good performances for PSG.
With Mathieu Debuchy unlikely to return to Arsenal when his loan spell ends, Hector Bellerin has shouldered the right back spot all by himself this season but would definitely need an alternative next season.
Calum Chambers could step in but for a potential title challenging squad, another option is a must and Van Der Wiel, who is extremely unhappy at PSG at the moment could provide that solution for Arsene Wenger.
Michael Carrick
Manchester United’s Michael Carrick is out of contract this summer and it looks likely that he will leave the club. Carrick is quite well known for the quiet but effect job he does at the base of the midfield.
Although he isn’t very mobile, Carrick has an eye for a forward pass and could do a job similar to the one Arteta used to do in the Arsenal midfield. Arsenal have struggled this season since Santi Cazorla got injured and have really found it a problem to build play from deep, something Carrick is capable of doing.
He would add squad depth and also bring in the mentality of a title winner having won the big ones at United not that Arsenal fans like hearing that for sure. He could well prove to be an astute recruit if Arsene Wenger decides to add his experience to the squad.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Top of the list,who else could it be but the one and only Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish international looks set to leave PSG this summer and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea will be looking to strengthen their striker position and you wouldn’t ever get a better striker for free, would you ?
Zlatan maybe 34 years old but he has been scoring goals in buckets this season and has a good couple of seasons left in him. Arsenal have been desperate for a top center forward for years now ever since Robin Van Persie left the club. Ask the fans which position they would want to strengthen and the overwhelming answer would be CF.
They aren’t wrong as stats show that Arsenal lack a reliable finisher and they miss so many of the chances they always tend to create. Although Olivier Giroud has done a decent job, a top striker has been the call for quite a few seasons now.
Zlatan’s history with Arsenal and Wenger is well known, probably that sort of charisma is what Arsenal need right now and Wenger should probably sign the striker he could have all those years ago. Perhaps he wouldn’t require a trial now, Arsene.
