5 January signings Man United fans would be delighted with

Excitement in the Transfer Tavern is building ahead of the January transfer window, particularly amongst Manchester United fans who are confident of big business.

The Red Devils have it in their hands to sit top of the Premier League by the New Year but their squad is still not quite complete, with Louis Van Gaal searching for the final big-names to add to his squad and increase his chances of success.

On his shopping list is a striker to ease the burden upon Anthony Martial and a midfielder playmaker, as well as a pacy winger to add a new dimension to his attack.

Our regulars have made it quite clear what business they’re crying out for and have told us the signings that they are desperate to see, with any number of these five potential arrivals set to leave fans of the Old Trafford outfit over the moon.

Whether deals can be completed remains to be seen but United are a very attractive club, so the early signs are positive.

Hit Van Gaal below to see FIVE signings he could make that would leave United fans delighted!

Sadio Mane

maneeeee

The Southampton star has been raising interest across the Premier League with his fantastic performances and United are desperate to bring him to Old Trafford, having tracked the Senegalese international during the summer with no success.

23-year-old Mane fits United’s criteria perfectly, as he’d add depth to their attack and also has the ability to develop into an even better player in the future. However, Southampton don’t want to sell and Chelsea are ready to compete for his signature too.

Gareth Bale

The Real Madrid ace has been occupying Manchester United’s dreams ever since his days at Tottenham Hotspur but there’s been no developments. However, with the situation in the Spanish capital beginning to turn sour, United may finally experience some joy.

Bale has faced a brunt of criticism from the Spanish media and the Real Madrid fans, whilst staunch-supporter Florentino Perez could lose his presidency. Should that happen, Bale would certainly be on the way out and Real may still decide to cash-in beforehand.

Although unlikely to take place just yet, this is one worth keeping an eye on.

Hakan Calhanoglu

Calhanoglu

Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu has been dubbed the new Mesut Ozil by many, with his superb playmaking ability and deft set-piece talent making him a fine talent. At 21-years-old, the Turkish international will only get better.

Likely to cost around £30m, Calhanoglu would be a shrewd purchase for United and the young talent is probably going to leave Leverkusen in 2016. Arsenal are also interested though, whilst other clubs may also compete for his signature, which gives United a potential problem.

Saido Berahino

West Brom striker Saido Berahino is a likely candidate to be on the move in January, as he enters the final 18 months of his contract. Having pushed unsuccessfully for an exit in the summer, the 22-year-old has been ousted from the starting line-up.

Set to cost around £25m, Berahino is a high-valued target and United can expect competition for his services. Both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on his signature, which could drive the price up, but United can offer the holy grail of Champions League football.

Lucas Biglia

Biglia

Lucas Biglia has been a name touted with Manchester United for a long time and a move to the Premier League may now finally come to fruition. However, United must be careful that arch-rivals Liverpool don’t steal a march on them- whilst Arsenal have also been touted as a potential destination.

Turning 30 in January, Biglia is an experienced option to bolster the Manchester United midfield and is isn’t likely to top their wish-list. However, he’d still be a shrewd acquisition that could provide a huge boost in the title race.
