Not many footballers play for Liverpool and Manchester United in a career.
To play for these clubs, a player is taught to despise the other club. To play for the rival is like breaking the Ten Commandments.
However, players like Peter Beardsley, Paul Ince, and Michael Owen have done just that.
The past couple years have not been the classic rivalry between the clubs.
Normally challenging for titles, Liverpool and Manchester United have been fighting to stay in the Champions League, a situation no one saw coming. That could make for some potential transfers between clubs.
While rumours swirl around about former United goal scorer Javier Hernandez switching to Merseyside from Germany, we look at potential players on the current United squad that could change from wearing one red shirt to another red shirt.
It would be a massive move and opinions would be flying around if any of this came to fruition, but here are FIVE Man United players that Liverpool should consider signing…..

Adnan Januzaj
The player had a magical debut season under David Moyes, but since, he has fallen out of favour with Louis Van Gaal preferring other players.
The kid has loads of talent and even tried to gain some valuable experience at Borussia Dortmund on Deadline Day.
However, he has been recalled after only appearing in 12 matches. Since, he has been in the U21’s for United, but he could use a move.
Liverpool could use some more creativity with the side.
Coutinho, the Reds’ most creative player, has been in and out of the side due to injuries and Januzaj could certainly help that cause.
With Jurgen Klopp implementing his own system, he could use a young, energetic wide player looking to make his name known again.
James Wilson
Liverpool’s inability to finish up top has been well documented, with Christian Benteke seeming to forget what a goal is and Daniel Sturridge unable to keep match fitness.
Roberto Firmino has filled in admirably up top and looks like an unorthodox number 9. However, Wilson could be given a chance to make his stamp at a club like Liverpool.
Anthony Martial seems like the future forward for United and Rooney doesn’t seem to be giving up his place in the squad any time soon.
With Van Gaal’s track record of spending loads of money every summer transfer window, it could be in Wilson’s best interest to look elsewhere.
He has proven he can score in the youth leagues and even bagged a few goals for the senior squad. Liverpool would want him to prove himself at Anfield.
Sergio Romero
This potential move would be influenced on the upcoming De Gea saga, if Real Madrid’s ban is suspended for the summer.
However, if De Gea stays at United, Romero would want to look elsewhere.
Considering his form in his appearances in the Premier League, he could see himself starting elsewhere and Liverpool would want him.
Mignolet’s struggles have been known and Liverpool have been rumoured with a new goalkeeper for some time now.
It could very well be Romero that replaces Mignolet in goal. And since Romero only recently arrived at Old Trafford, Liverpool fans would hope his allegiance isn’t too attached to the Red Devils.
Nick Powell
He arrived at Manchester in 2012 with much excitement, but since, he has done much to prove his place within the squad.
At 21, he is still very young and could be still in United’s plans. Brought in under Sir Alex Ferguson, it remains to be unseen whether Van Gaal and future managers want him. However, he could be an excellent addition to the midfield.
Liverpool have switched around the players in the midfield throughout the year without any consistency.
Joe Allen has proved he could start and Lucas has been a stalwart in the middle.
However, Liverpool look to get younger every year and Powell can finally show his worth at a club like Liverpool.
Although he would come with pressure from switching rival clubs, he would have a blank slate to show his craft.
Memphis Depay
He was rumoured to come to Liverpool when he decided to join Manchester United.
However, he has not had the start to his United career that he would have wanted and the criticism has reached a new level.
Should he feel like he cannot live up to these expectations, Liverpool fans wouldn’t mind if he found his form at Anfield.
At PSV Eindhoven, he was the most exciting player in the Eredivisie and showed why he would be one of the next great players in the world.
However, he has fallen mightily short of those expectations and Liverpool could use his confidence.
When he has it, he is not afraid to attack any player and wants to take the game in his control.
Liverpool need that in their squad and with Alex Teixeira moving to China, Memphis could move in to help complete Liverpool’s attack.
