Following another disappointing defeat for Manchester City at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, our landlord has been wandering around the Tavern asking the Blues’ fans which players they should be looking to sign this summer.
With the likes of David Alaba, Paul Pogba and Neymar linked, our landlord challenged a small group of City fans by the bar to choose FIVE players from their rivals Manchester United that would strengthen their side.
City supporters now all about the potential talent of their rival’s stars having witnessed the brilliance of Argentine striker Carlos Tevez at the Etihad.
Their choices were scribbled down drunkenly on a napkin and are just about legible, so in this article, we will be revealing the United players who could make City better.

David De Gea
Joe Hart is the clearly defined number one for Manuel Pellegrini, but that could change under Pep Guardiola.
The Spanish coach is renowned for his use of goalkeepers, who are capable of using their feet and his national compatriot would be a world class addition between the sticks.
The 25-year old is one of the best shot stoppers in world football and would certainly rival Hart for the gloves.
Chris Smalling
The Citizens have spent massively on defensive players over the past few seasons, as they look to create one of the world’s most resolute defences, yet they are still left with a defence that concedes too many sloppy goals.
Guardiola likes ball-playing defenders and Smalling would be a great addition to the City backline following his impressive season at Old Trafford.
The 26-year old is also an England international and would count towards the required home-grown quota.
Luke Shaw
Another talented Red who fits into the ‘home-grown’ bracket and would improve the Blues’ squad is Luke Shaw.
The 20-year old left-back was impressing this season, until he suffered from a nasty injury, but his determination to overcome an average first season at Old Trafford suggests that he will put his spell on the sidelines behind him.
With City’s left-backs Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy both aged 30, the capture of a younger replacement who could immediately go into the starting line-up would be a huge signing for City.
Ander Herrera
Pep Guardiola is also known for his use of midfielders who can dictate play, and are both defensively and offensively capable.
Ander Herrera, therefore, would potentially be a good signing for the Blues, despite the fact that he is perhaps underutilised by Louis Van Gaal.
When given the opportunity, the Spaniard has demonstrated his ability and at 26 years old, he would be able to offer City the best years of his career.
Anthony Martial
Perhaps the player who has stood out the most for United this season is Anthony Martial.
The French forward won the most recent Golden Boy award, and has managed 10 goals and six assists in all competitions for the Reds in his debut season.
At just 20 years of age, Martial would be a welcome addition to the City side and would bring pace and technical ability in contrast with Wilfried Bony, who is expected to leave in the summer.
