Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have endured a disappointing year, after the footballing equivalent of falling on your face after giving it the big one on a stool at the bar.
Jose Mourinho’s loud and proud regime ended up squeaking by the time he was done in West London, with the Blues still staggeringly finding themselves in the bottom half of the standings after 21 games.
The defending champions, no less, are doing a modern day Leeds United this season and relegation danger is right behind them. Whilst it’s unlikely they will endure a drop in the division, it’s clear some underperforming players should be axed.
With the transfer window open, now’s the time to swing the axe and chop off some deadwood from the squad- particularly as some of these men won’t be worth two-bob come the summer if they continue with their disastrous showings.
Chelsea’s star-men are underperforming, and there’s been more transfer failures than we’ve ever seen before, so keep an eye out for a car boot sale in West London where you may be able to grab yourself an overrated prima-donna.

Baba Rahman
For all the praise that Jose Mourinho receives in England, he doesn’t half know how to pull off an absolute stinker in the transfer market. From Mohamed Salah to Juan Cuadrado, Baba Rahman is the latest to join a very illustrious list.
Signed in the back end of the summer window when Chelsea’s defence was as vulnerable as an unlocked car full of goodies in a dodgy Merseyside estate, Rahman has made just three appearances in the Premier League- and he’s publicly hit out and his lack of chances.
He’s still just 21 but this is more evidence of Chelsea hoarding talent and, let’s face it, if you can’t get ahead of Branislav Ivanovic in his showings this season then you’re not cut out for Premier League football.
Loic Remy
Once the crown jewel of an overpriced QPR squad, and a Newcastle United hero, Chelsea snatched up the diamond from across West London but soon found out they’ve been had- as Loic Remy has been more like a shard of glass, not an expensive jewel.
Just 28 Premier League appearances and eight goals, Remy’s worst displays have come this season- at a time when Chelsea needed him to find form most. Guus Hiddink is reluctant to let him go this window but he’d be better of cashing in, before Remy ruins his reputation forever.
Cesc Fabregas
The only thing Cesc Fabregas is useful for these days is posting pictures of him with a Premier League title to outraged Arsenal fans. Fabregas, in just 18 months at Chelsea, has gone from the dogs ballocks to a rather less pleasant comparison.
On the field he’s been abysmal and behind the scenes he’s caused a stir, with many now accusing him of being a snake in the grass. Reported to have been directly responsible to the sacking of the beloved Jose Mourinho, Fabregas has ruined his reputation in the eyes of Chelsea supporters.
Was it one big ploy from Arsene Wenger to ruin his London rivals from the inside? Who knows.
Pedro
When Chelsea snatched Pedro from Barcelona, Chelsea fans had hoped they’d grabbed their own version of Alexis Sanchez- especially after one of the Spaniard’s last pieces action for the Catalan giants was to score the goal that landed them the European Super Cup.
Instead, Chelsea seem to have landed themselves a fish out of water- with Pedro struggling to make an impression in England and some reports stating he wants to return to Spain. With his reputation on the continent still solid, Chelsea should probably explore the option of cashing in now.
Radamel Falcao
Nothing signifies Chelsea’s downfall this season more than Radamel Falcao- a player who, since 2014, has endured a similar downfall in his own career. The Blues gave him the chance to get things back on track but he’s gone completely the wrong direction.
Overpriced and out of favour, the currently crocked Colombian had his chances of an early return to Monaco wiped clear with his injury. If that doesn’t put anyone off, then his goalscoring record in the past two seasons certainly will.
The chances of Chelsea offloading Falcao this month are very slim but we can only imagine the hierarchy wants to tear up his loan agreement and shift him back into Monaco’s arms.
