Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing their dream signings in January and it seems they share similar views to their manager, Louis Van Gaal.
Currently locked in the middle of a three-way Premier League title tussle, United need new recruits in January to bolster their chances of lifting the prestigious trophy ahead of rivals Manchester City and Arsenal come May.
With attacking firepower seemingly the root of United’s current options, it’s this area that’s likely to be the focus of Van Gaal’s interest and his January wishlist will be breaming with attacking stars that could take United to the next level.
These five in particular will be shrewd additions at Old Trafford, if the Dutchman can pull them off, and they’d give every supporter a reason to be excited!

Harry Kane

The Tottenham Hotspur striker has been linked with a move to Manchester United ever since his rise to form in North London last season, where he showed his tremendous ability by netting 21-goals in the Premier League.
Seemingly destined for bigger things, United would love to offer him the chance to lead an exciting attack alongside Anthony Martial and become a long-term successor to club legend Wayne Rooney who, like Kane, made his mark elsewhere before a big-money move.
Tottenham won’t want to sell at any stage but there’s no harm in trying.
Hakan Calhanoglu

An attacking star that could prove to be the missing link is Bayer Leverkusen’s wondrous midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, who has been likened to Mesut Ozil for his play, whilst he also possesses deadly ability from a set-piece situation.
Calhanoglu would cost United a hefty sum of around £29m but the 21-year-old is defined to leave his current Bundesliga side in 2016 and United would storm to the front of the queue by snatching his services in the New Year.
Come the end of the season, interest in Calhanoglu’s signature will increase tenfold.
Gareth Bale

A dream signing for sure but Manchester United are arguably the only side in world football that could lure Gareth Bale away from Real Madrid. If he were to leave the Spanish capital, it’s almost certain he would return to the Premier League.
Real Madrid do not want to sell, and Bale is happy in La Liga, but it’s a difficult situation. The fans and the media are not entirely convinced regarding the Welshman and, until Cristiano Ronaldo leaves, he will always find himself in the shadow of the Portuguese great.
If the issues aren’t resolved quickly, then United could benefit massively.
Thomas Muller

Another dream signing for Manchester United is Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller, who would again be very difficult to capture. However, having won everything German football has to offer, a Champions League title and a World Cup, Muller may consider a new challenge in the future.
The Premier League is seen as the holy grail for many to prove themselves amongst the best and United would be the perfect fit for the German. Any sale would more likely take place in the summer but United will put feelers out nevertheless.
Cristiano Ronaldo

The big one and, out of all the dream signings, the one that’s most likely to happen. That’s not to say it will be easy though, as United will have to battle a big-bad wolf away if they are to secure Ronaldo’s signature; Paris Saint-Germain.
Ronaldo seems certain to leave next summer, with PSG the favoured destination, but United will do all they can to bring their fan favourite back to Old Trafford. It would be expensive and a massive challenge but Ronaldo’s goals would quickly ease any issues.
