5 players to follow Schneiderlin to Manchester United this summer

Frustration isn’t the word for Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern who are growing rather impatient at the lack of concrete news regarding new arrivals to Old Trafford this summer.

The signing of Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven seems like an eternity ago now and our Red Devils supporters are craving news on the proposed signature of a new centre back, new striker, oh and what the devil has happened to the Morgan Schneiderlin deal.

The Southampton man appeared to be hours away from completing his Manchester United switch last week but much like Petr Cech’s deal to Arsenal, it appears this transfer will be dragged out to maximum proportions.

When the Frenchman does arrive at Old Trafford, most Manchester United fans see this as an excellent acquisition with the Saints man having now built up huge experience in the top flight.

Schneiderlin is also a player that is not a total destroyer and can play a bit too, showcased away at Manchester City last season where he sent a few Citizens midfielders on a merry dance!

But just who could be following Schneiderlin to the red side of Manchester this summer with United having been linked to more transfer targets than their fans have had hot dinners so far this transfer window.

Here’s five men that could be signing on the dotted line.

Sergio Ramos

The speculation regarding a summer transfer for Sergio Ramos reached fever pitch last week where the Real Madrid man told Los Blancos that he wants a move to Manchester United.

The latest from The Express is that his club’s own fans have started to turn on the Spanish international who is making a song and dance over the fact he wants to become a Red Devil this transfer window.

Ramos would be an excellent addition to this United side and would not only immediatley improve their defensive prospects but he could also lend his experience and assurance to the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling who struggled at times last season.

Hugo Lloris

Lloris

Our resident Red Devils are wondering what on earth has happened to the David De Gea deal with news of an impending switch to Real Madrid subsiding in recent times.

If you ask them honestly, they still expect De Gea to be joining up with Rafael Benitez’s side this summer but perhaps the hold up is due to negotiations with our aforementioned target Sergio Ramos, who knows?

If De Gea does complete his deal as expected, our Manchester United fans would like Louis van Gaal to go out and poach a world class stopper in Hugo Lloris from Tottenham.

Earlier this transfer window, several reports claimed that Daniel Levy would cash in if he received an offer around the £17 million mark but more recently, The Express have claimed

Seamus Coleman

Seamus Coleman

Manchester United have been trailing Seamus Coleman for longer than we care to remember but the latest is that they’re looking to tempt Everton into a sale by throwing Jonny Evans in as a deal sweetener.

Everton have always driven a hard bargain when it comes to parting with their prized assets and the Red Devils were of course rejected in the summer transfer window whereby David Moyes could only manage to lure Marouane Fellaini away from his former club.

Republic of Ireland international Coleman is rightly considered one of the best bargain buys in Premier League history and would immediately solve Louis van Gaal’s dilemma at right back with Rafael succumbing to injury on too many occasions last term, not to mention Antonio Valencia being a right winger by trade.

Arda Turan

At the time of publication of this article, Arda Turan may have already made an announcement on which new club he is going to be joining this summer, that is according to reports this week that claimed Friday would be the day in which the Turkish international’s future would be resolved.

One of the clubs heavily linked has been Manchester United whose interest in the Atletico Madrid man is strange given the fact they already boast Angel Di Maria, Juan Mata, Adnan Januzaj, Memphis Depay, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia as choice on the flanks.

Nevertheless, Turan is a quality player who has played at the very highest level in the Champions League with United fans claiming they would be willing to accommodate him while potentially loaning out Januzaj.

Nico Gaitan

Benfica’s Nico Gaitan seems to have been linked with Manchester United for as long as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west!

Linked with a United switch for even longer than Ander Herrera was, the latest on the Gaitan situation is that United have a verbal agreement to sign the Argentine international if Angel Di Maria ends up departing Old Trafford this summer.

Here in the tavern, our Red Devils supporters are sceptical on the prospect of signing Gaitan with many claiming that Di Maria is likely to follow the example of Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil in improving greatly following a slow start to life in English football.
