5 players who could follow Arjen Robben to Man Utd in January

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are the happiest we’ve seen them for a long while and they’re contently discussing their sides January transfer plans.

Whilst the performance at the weekend against Watford wasn’t ideal, the Red Devils managed to get away with a 2-1 win and leapfrogged Arsenal and Manchester City in the table; with their title rivals both suffering defeats.

Now a huge week is ahead as a victory over PSV Eindhoven would secure their passage to the knock-out stages of the Champions League, whilst a win at the weekend against Leicester City would put them top of the Premier League table.

Added to that, there’s fierce suggestions that Arjen Robben could be added to Van Gaal’s squad in January and it’s these reports that are taking centre-stage amongst the fans today, as they discuss what other business their side could complete.

They hassled our bar staff for all the latest gossip, with five stories really wetting their appetite this afternoon.

Hit Robben below to see FIVE players who could follow him to Manchester United in January!

Sadio Mane

The Southampton attacker has been in fierce form this season and that has attracted the attention of Europe’s big guns, with Manchester United seemingly the club most interested in the services of the Senegalese forward.

Whilst the Saints are desperate to secure Mane down to a new deal, the interest from United may be too hard to fight off- especially with Mane set to earn plenty of first-team football at Old Trafford, with United desperately seeking an acquisition of a talented forward to ease the pressure upon Anthony Martial.

Gareth Bale

United’s chances of securing a mammoth deal for Gareth Bale took a positive twist at the weekend, where a 4-0 El Clasico defeat for Real Madrid increased speculation regarding the Welshman’s future. Marca readers voted him the worst player on the field, which continued his struggles to impress the media and fans.

On top of this, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is under pressure and if he departs then Bale is certain to leave, as Perez is Bale’s staunch supporter and many other incoming bosses will not feel the same way about the former PFA Player Of The Year.

Daniele Rugani

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal wants to add young players to his squad, to create a legacy at Old Trafford, and Rugani fits the bill- with the added bonus being the fact the young Italian is likely to move in January.

Rugani is frustrated with his lack of chances at Juventus this season, with just one appearance coming off the bench, and the highly-rated defender is a top-target for many sides. Arsenal have also been linked with his signature but the fiercest rival for United is likely to be Napoli, who Rugani has links with.

Lucas Biglia

A long-term midfield target for Manchester United is Lazio ace Lucas Biglia and United could finally secure a move in January, as interest heats up. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to secure the player in the New Year and United will be desperate not to see that happen.

United’s midfield is packed with talent but it still struggles to dominate matches, with the shocking 3-0 defeat to Arsenal earlier this season being the prime example. Therefore, it’s likely midfield additions will be made.

Saido Berahino

Manchester United’s search for a striker and young players has been well documented and West Brom forward Saido Berahino fits both boxes, whilst he’d also fit United’s proud record of having young English talent at the club.

Berahino’s signature will be up for grabs in the New Year as West Brom look to cash-in, with United battling the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea for his signature. Fortunately for the Red Devils, they have a potential Premier League crown and Champions League football to offer.
