Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have made it clear they expect massive additions this summer, so the exciting news reports filtering in have put a beaming smile upon their faces.
The one story that’s really got them going is reports that state Manchester United have held a meeting with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of a potential summer move, which would be a massive coup from the Red Devils.
It’s pretty clear though that one major addition will not fix all of the problems that Manchester United have faced this summer, with whoever replaces Louis Van Gaal having a lot of work to do as a massive overhaul is required.
That’s fine for our fans though, who want wholesale changes, and in their excitement today they started discussing which other players could potentially follow Aubameyang to Old Trafford- and the names they’ve come up with aren’t as farfetched as you would imagine.

Renato Sanches
Portuguese prodigy Renato Sanches, still just 18-years-old, has been heavily linked to Manchester United in recent months and it seems the teenage starlet is likely to be on his way out of Benfica this summer for what could be an audacious price.
With a mammoth release clause, Sanches is only likely to move to one of the biggest financial powerhouses in European football and United fit the bill perfectly. With the Red Devils wanting young stars who can make an immediate impact as well as help build a side capable of dominating English football in the coming years, Renato Sanches ticks all the boxes.
Potential problems though are the wealth of competition Manchester United face for the teenager’s signature as a number of top sides in Europe are eying his services.
Neymar
In a move that would undoubtably be the biggest story of the transfer window, links between Manchester United and Neymar just won’t go away. Originally considered to just be paper talk from the Brazilian’s camp to persuade Barcelona into offering better terms in a new contract, it’s growing increasingly possible that Neymar could leave Catalonia.
Barcelona simply cannot afford to keep him, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez so one of them may be forced out. Neymar would command a world-record transfer fee and Manchester United are prepared to pay whatever it takes to bring the Ballon D’Or finalist to Old Trafford.
Manchester City have similar dreams though and the appointment of Pep Guardiola, who Neymar has expressed his desire to work with publicly, could prove to be decisive.
Mauro Icardi
Another young talent from Europe heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer is Inter Milan’s 22-year-old captain Mauro Icardi, who’s highly-rated in Italy but has endured a stormy relationship with boss Roberto Mancini.
With Inter also locked in a fierce battle to land Champions League football, which they may not be successful in securing,the likelihood of Icardi leaving is increasing and a move to the Premier League is a strong possibility.
United’s forward line would look complete for the coming years with Icardi partnered alongside Anthony Martial but their own lack of Champions League football could prove to be their downfall, whilst Paris Saint-Germain are ready to rival the Red Devils for the player.
Ricardo Rodriguez
The Wolfsburg full-back is one of the most highly-rated defenders in the Bundesliga and his performances this season, particularly in the Champions League, have raised interest in the Swiss international- and Manchester United hold long-term interest.
With Wolfsburg, like the aforementioned Inter Milan, facing a stern test to secure qualification to next season’s Champions League competition, failure to land that spot could see Rodriguez, and a host of others, vacate the Bundesliga side.
However, rival interest from Real Madrid would prove to be problematic for Manchester United and the fact they already boast Luke Shaw raises questions as to whether Rodriguez is truly needed ahead of alternative targets in other areas.
Sofiane Feghouli
Perhaps the easiest signing on this list to complete would be that of Algerian international Sofiane Feghouli, who looks set to leave Valencia this summer on a free transfer as he is yet to agree fresh terms with the Spanish side.
Manchester United have already made an approach to the player’s camp and it’s unlikely they will sit back and wait, especially as they reserve the right to discuss a pre-contractual agreement with the La Liga star ahead of a move this summer.
As a free agent, United would be able to offer larger wages to Feghouli and that could be decisive in the chase, although Valencia are still fighting to secure their star-player to a new deal.
