Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are excitedly gearing up for the January transfer window, genuinely believing they have a chance to land some big names.
Whilst time will tell whether they can lure Marco Reus to Anfield from Borussia Dortmund, fans at the bar are stating that they need plenty of business to secure their top-four spot and start to build a side capable of competing on two huge fronts next season.
With Jurgen Klopp’s formidable transfer record from his time at Dortmund, supporters can expect some surprise names to come in and do some impressive things.
They may not necessarily be the biggest and most exciting of January additions but Klopp’s keen eye for talent could help them build an amazing squad for far less than many of their Premier League rivals.

Alexandre Pato
Possibly a deal that’s complete already, Liverpool look set to bolster their attacking options with the addition of Alexandre Pato in January- as Corinthians’ president stated this week that a deal has been reached, with final details left to be ironed out.
Pato, formerly of AC Milan, has failed to live-up to his reputation early in his career but would be a valuable addition to Liverpool’s squad, with Divock Origi uninspiring, Danny Ings out for the season, whilst Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge have had plenty of injury worries this season.
Riccardo Saponara
Another highly-reported target is Empoli’s Riccardo Saponara, a player Italian media says Jurgen Klopp is eying for around £14m.
An expensive deal for a player that’s relatively unknown outside of Italy, fans will be hopeful that 23-year-old Saponara can become the latest in Klopp’s long-line of success stories and hope he can provide a huge boost to their midfield ranks.
Neven Subotic
A Borussia Dortmund player who’s most likely to follow former manager Klopp to Liverpool is defender Neven Subotic, an extremely experienced player who can provide a huge boost to the spine of the Reds.
Knowing Klopp well could prove to be a valuable asset for any new arrival and he could become a fordable figure at the heart of defence, calming a back-line that has been breached far too many times in recent seasons.
Khouma Babacar
Another reported striking option is, incidentally, another man from Italy. Houma Babacar has been flying-high with Fiorentina this season, helping La Viola top Serie A and providing a decent tally of five goals in nine games.
At 22-years, the relatively young striker would be a valuable addition as he boosts Liverpool’s forward options immediately whilst also presenting an exciting prospect for the future. However, fans may be concerned at their growing ranks of forward- with exits surely likely next summer.
Mauro Icardi
Another striker, and another Serie A man, reportedly eyed by Liverpool is Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi. What’s crucial here is that the Argentine has fallen out of favour with Roberto Mancini and, according to the tabloids, wants to leave the San Siro.
Crucially though, Chelsea are also keen and their current problems could see Jose Mourinho’s side blow Liverpool out of the water. Even if that doesn’t happen, the increased interest in Icardi could push the price into a margin the Reds don’t want to play.
