5 players who could follow this £20m star to Man United in the summer

Manchester United’s need for an overhaul this summer is agonisingly clear for the wealth of supporters they have around the world and with this season continuing to disappoint, focus has already shifted towards potential summer activity.

The latest player to be linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer is Fiorentina’s impressive youngster  Federico Bernardeschi, who is likely to cost the Red Devils around £20m– a drop in the ocean for a financial powerhouse like United.

It’s pretty clear though that signing a talented youngster to bolster the squad isn’t enough to solve United’s issues though and the fans at the bar have been discussing who else they could potentially bring to the club when the window opens at the end of the campaign.

Our landlord was intrigued by their thoughts and he’s confirmed that all five of the players mentioned by the United targets are genuine targets for the club, as he knows a lot of the ins-and-outs due to the conversations he overhears on a daily basis.

Renato Sanches

The young talent is in line for a lucrative exit out of Benfica this summer, with a host of European giants interested in the services of the teenager, and Manchester United have stolen a march with reports indicating they’ve opened talks with the Portuguese club.

A small fortune is going to have to be presented to win the race for the exciting prodigy, who has impressed Europe’s eyes with some fine performances this term, though United’s links in Portugal put the club in a promising position.

It could be another record-break, surpassing the astonishing fee spent on Anthony Martial last summer, and the youngster will have a lot of impressing in England to do.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang

The dream forward signing for a wealth of Europe’s top clubs this summer is that of Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Whilst other clubs are put-off by the staggering fee the German outfit want for the striker, United remain extremely keen.

With 31 goals in all competitions for Dortmund this season, Aubameyang seems to be the talented striker that United are crying out for. At the age of just 26, he also has many years of service to give to the Red Devils and could be the ideal forward to build a team around.

A lack of Champions League football could be problematic though, which will concern United.

Mauro Icardi

Mauro Icardi

22-year-old Argentine international has impressed with Inter Milan in recent years, who he captains, but his relationship with boss Roberto Mancini is understood to be turbulent. As such, the young striker could be on the move this summer.

Like United’s other transfer targets, Icardi has attracted vast attention across European football and he’s likely to have his pick this summer from a long-list of sensational clubs. First-team assurances may be crucial in negotiations though and United could offer him that chance.

Joao Miranda

The 31-year-old central-defender has recently emerged as a surprise target for the Red Devils, who are looking to shore-up their defensive ranks. Their priority is always talented young players, so the experienced Brazilian international raises eyebrows.

However, United need to ensure that they have the experience within the squad to ensure there is no problems and the signature of the Inter Milan defender, who won an array of honours during his time at Atletico Madrid, would lessen the potential risks of a squad overhaul.

Neymar

Neymar

The dream signing for Manchester United this summer is Neymar and, despite Barcelona’s firm stance that he will not be sold, links with the Brazilian for United just don’t seem to go away. So much so that it’s moved away from paper-talk and a massive transfer is a genuine possibility.

Barcelona simply can’t afford to keep Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, whilst Neymar’s ambition to be the face of the team cannot be fulfilled in Catalonia easily- especially with Messi and iconic club legend Andres Iniesta still floating about.

At United, he’d be the star-player and would be the face for all of United’s commercial ventures and that may well appeal to the Ballon D’Or finalist.
