Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are still awaiting a confirmation that Jose Mourinho will come into their side this summer but they’re confident that Louis Van Gaal will not be in charge next term.
Amid all the performance problems for Manchester United, the axe has been ready to swing since December and many are surprised to still see there have been no changes as of yet- although the Red Devils have improved and could force their way into the Champions League spots.
The latest piece of gossip floating around the bar involves Bologna forward Mattia Destro, who admitted he’s keen to join United this summer. That’s left the fans optimistic of further signings and they believe they’ll get what they’re after.
Over by the sofas, they’re now discussing which players could join Destro at Old Trafford and there’s certainly an exciting list to dig into!

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Over the weekend, as Paris Saint-Germain stormed to their fourth successive Ligue 1 crown, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, promptly after scoring four goals in a 9-0 victory, confirmed what we all knew- he would be leaving the French capital in the summer.
With 28 career honours to his name, the Swedish legend could jump at the chance to play in the Premier League as it’s the final feather missing from his cap. With experience in Spain, Italy and France, English football could be the final swan song for the legendary forward.
Any deal is only likely to be a short-term deal, with the player expected to move to the MLS in 2017, but he’d certainly be a good addition for the Red Devils.
Edinson Cavani

Paris Saint-Germain’s summer overhaul won’t just see Ibrahimovic leave the French capital, as Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani is set to follow. After years playing second fiddle to Ibrahimovic, forced out wide, it’s unlikely United would secure both of the PSG duo.
However, Cavani would provide more than just a year of service to the Red Devils and his ability to play wider, when required, would be appealing. The player himself would be open to a new challenge, having enjoyed success in Italy and France.
Sergio Ramos

Moving away from the French capital, Spain’s capital city of Madrid is our next point of call as a long-term Manchester United target is back on the agenda once again. Following Real Madrid’s poor season, speculation has claimed he’s handed in a transfer request at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish central defender has won everything he could possibly get his hands on in Spain and on the international scene, so a new challenge would be appealing. He’s flirted with the Red Devils before and United are in serious need of defensive reinforcements and Ramos could be perfect.
Cristiano Ronaldo

Sticking with Madrid, the dream signing would be bringing cult-hero Cristiano Ronaldo back from Real Madrid to Old Trafford. Following years of success with the Red Devils, the multiple-time Ballon D’Or has followed that up with scintillating performances on the continent.
Another player who could also move to the MLS further down the line, Ronaldo still has a few more years in him before he moves stateside. With United desperate for a breath of fresh air on the flanks, Ronaldo could be the perfect solution- albeit an expensive one.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Finally, another forward United have their eyes on is Borussia Dortmund’s in-form striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who’s raised his credentials as one of the finest strikers in European football with a 22-goal haul in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund are adamant they will not part ways with the striker but the German side don’t have the financial stability the Premier League clubs do. If a record-breaking bid came in, it would be difficult for Dortmund to turn down.
However, United’s likely lack of Champions League football could be decisive in any decision the Gabonese striker makes.
