The Premier League has only been back for three weeks, and already we are struggling to work out what we have been doing for the three summer months without football.
The start of the season is one of our favourite times of year in the Football Transfer Tavern, not just because of the return of Premier League action, but it also signals the start of the Fantasy Football season.
It always get’s competitive here in the Tavern, as is the case everywhere else.
With 30 Premier League matches now done and dusted, we have identified five early season performers who look sure bets for points when it comes to Fantasy Football.

Simon Mignolet
The Belgian has enjoyed a dramatic turnaround at Anfield. Dropped ‘indefinitely’ in December 2014, he has since come back and kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in 2015.
He has managed three in a row at the start of this campaign, and produced some key saves during Monday night’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates.
Liverpool’s new found defensive resilience makes him one of the more affordable and reliable goalkeepers for points.
Vincent Kompany
The Belgian has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, with three consecutive clean sheets, three consecutive wins and two goals.
City look refreshed from last season, with Kompany in particular up for the challenge of retaining the title.
No defender has won more points in the Fantasy Football rankings over the opening three matches.
Andre Ayew
Swansea’s summer signing has impressed everyone during the opening three games of the season.
The Ghanian has two goals in three matches, scoring against both Chelsea and Newcastle. He would have made it three in three had it not been for the woodwork up at Sunderland on Saturday.
Ayew is one of those useful signings that is classed as a midfielder, but who often plays as a part of a front three. Sure to add goals and assists from midfield over the course of the season and for a reasonable price.
Riyad Mahrez
The Leicester City winger scored a total of four goals in the whole of last season, a tally he has already equalled in the seasons opening three matches.
Mahrez has been perhaps the most exciting player in the Premier League so far, not only scoring in every match but terrorising opposition defences with his dribbling skills.
He has been a candidate for man of the match in every game so far, and has picked up more points than any other midfielder – seven more than second placed Yaya Toure on the official Premier League Fantasy Football.
Mame Biram Diouf
The Stoke City striker has headed two goals in his last two, and looks to be very much Mark Hughes main striker this season.
Diouf is the fifth highest scoring striker on the official Premier League Fantasy Football, and is very reasonably priced at £6.5million.
With the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri now at the Britannia to supply him with crosses, Diouf could prove a very shrewd addition to go alongside a star forward.
