Tottenham fans have enjoyed their Monday more than most in the Football Transfer Tavern, having witnessed their side cap off a superb 10 days with a 2-1 victory over North London rivals Arsenal.
A second half double from Harry Kane cancelled out Mesut Ozil’s early first half strike and ensured Mauricio Pochettino’s side moved above their great rivals in the Premier League table, and temporarily into fourth place.
In 10 days, Tottenham have booked a place at Wembley for the final of the Capital One Cup, beaten West Bromwich Albion 3-0 away from home, tied main man Harry Kane down to a new five-year contract, signed one of the hottest young prospects in English football in MK Dons Dele Alli, and beaten their fiercest rivals.
With so much positivity surrounding White Hart Lane at the moment, we have come up with five reasons why Tottenham could steal that final fourth spot off of Arsenal and finish above the Gunners for the first time since 1995.

Harry Kane can’t stop scoring
Quite simply, Tottenham have the best striker in the country at the moment. You would have got superb odds on the 21-year-old being the top scorer in all competitions by this point in the season had you made the bet in August, as Kane looked as though he sat behind both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.
But Saturday saw him fire goal number 21 and 22 of the season, and his fourth in two Premier League games. Kane is on fire at the moment and will be boosted by the fact he has just signed a new five-year contract at White Hart Lane.
If he can carry on his form from now until the end of the season, there is every chance Tottenham can pip the Gunners to that fourth spot.
Tough fixtures are out of the way
When Tottenham finish playing Liverpool tomorrow evening, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have faced last season’s top four away from home whilst a home clash with Manchester City remains in order to complete the set of fixtures home and away.
Arsenal still have to face Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea – a side they have never beaten during the Portuguese’s stay in England – as well as Manchester United away in the same month.
If you were looking at the fixture lists of both sides, you would probably say Tottenham have the easier run of the two sides from now until the end of the season.
They boast a world class keeper in Hugo Lloris
The likes of David De Gea and Thibaut Courtois have proven this season just how important it is to boast a world class goalkeeper, and Tottenham have that in Hugo Lloris.
The Frenchman has been superb in recent weeks and has shown in his last two matches against West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal that he is capable of producing moments to win points with some spectacular and important saves.
David Ospina is yet to prove himself as a Premier League goalkeeper so you would say that you would back Lloris to produce more ‘point saving moments’ from now until the end of the season.
Christian Eriksen is showing what a special talent he is
An interesting statistic for Tottenham fans is that 22-year-old Christian Eriksen has managed more goals and assists in a season-and-a-half than Luka Modric managed in his entire Tottenham career.
The Danish international has 11 goals to his name already this season whilst his expertise from set pieces has been crucial for Spurs.
He seems to be getting better by the week and it is becoming quite clear Tottenham have a very special player on their books, capable of transforming a game with a moment of special skill at any time.
He looks set to play a big part in the race for fourth between now and the end of the season.
No team seems able to match them for fitness
No team in the Premier League has scored more goals in the final 10 minutes than Tottenham this season.
Pochettino demands hard work and ultimate fitness from his players and the new regime seems to be paying off, judging by the way in which Tottenham have scored late winners so often this season.
Everything seems to be falling into place for Spurs after a sticky start at home and you would say they are the team with the most momentum in the fight for fourth spot at present.
