With Jamie Vardy seemingly on his way to the red side of North London, rumours have been flying here in the Tavern regarding if the Sheffield-born striker is the perfect fit for Arsenal.
Whilst there were rumours surrounding his departure for weeks, very few fans touted Arsenal as a possible destination, with the club typically looking over seas for foreign talent.
Surprisingly, many Tottenhma fans wanted the Sheffield-born striker to make his way to White Hart Lane, suggesting that he could form a deadly partnership up front with Harry Kane.
With Tottenham looking to build on an excellent campaign last season, many fans were hoping to see the side strengthen early in the summer, whilst spending pre-season preparing for another title challenge.
With the Jamie Vardy deal still far from completion, there is still time to pip their North London rivals to the transfer; and our landlord thinks White Hart Lane would be perfect for the 29 year old striker.

His record
Last season was an absolutely prolific one for the Sheffield born striker.
Having scored 24 goals in 36 games, he finished second in the race for the Golden Boot behind a certain Harry Kane; and with such an eye for goal, any club would be delighted to hold of a player of Vardy’s quality.
Harry Kane’s goals almost carried Spurs to a title last season, and to add another 25-goal a season man to the squad would almost certainly put them over that line.
With Spurs reportedly searching for a new striker, Vardy would certainly fit the bill, and given his availability this summer; there is no better striker on the market.
Kane/Vardy partnership
Another reason as to why Vardy would be a perfect fit at Spurs has something to do with the Tottenham man that pipped him to the Golden Boot last season.
Both Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy were prolific last season, and to have them both in the same team would be one thing; but if the pair were to play alongside each other they could become unstoppable in the Premier League.
Both men are now striking partners with the England national team, and with a decent Euro 2016 tournament under their belts; they could go on to form a deadly duo at the head of the Tottenham attack next summer.
The pairing has echoes of the Sturridge and Suarez combination that almost took Liverpool to a title a few years ago, and with Tottenham so close to the gold last season; this pairing could become crucial.
Better value than Berahino
To understand how good Vardy would be for Tottenham, you have to look at the alternatives that Tottenham have been looking at.
Saido Berahino has been touted as a target over the past 12 months, and with a bid of around £25 million rejected last summer; you have to expect his final cost to go above the £30 million mark, should Tottenham be able to capture him.
This is, of course, after a couple of relatively unremarkable seasons marred by off the field issues.
In Vardy you certainly have no angel, but what you do have is a proven goal scorer, that can net you up to 25 goals a season.
You also have to look at the cost, with Berahino likely costing more than the Leicester man, whilst also offering significantly less on the pitch.
Whilst Berahino is an option for the future, Spurs need players that can do the business now; and Vardy would be perfect for that.
English spine
By bringing Vardy in, Spurs will also be able to build on that English spine that they have been building over the several years.
Last season saw the rise of both Eric Dier and Delli Alli spearheading the Tottenham midfield, with Harry Kane leading the line. The likes of Danny Rose and Kyle Walker were in the Tottenham defence, and collectively this English spine made up the majority of the Spurs first team.
Vardy would add to this English contingent, inevitably bringing more success to the North London club.
English players are becoming a rare commodity in the high end English game; and by building a side around world class English players, as Vardy is, Tottenham will soon find themselves in a new period of dominance, with Englishmen leading the way.
Experience of the next level
A year ago people would have said you were crazy, but Jamie Vardy is a Premier League champion.
Leicster pipped Tottenham to the league last year on the back of Jamie Vardy’s terrific performances throughout the year, with the Englishman spearing the side’s attack.
Tottenham would be able to use Jamie Vardy’s experience of winning the league, potentially allowing them to push on and gain that extra edge that they lacked last season.
Tottenham’s first team is a hugely talented side; but what they do lack is experience. By taking the star man of the team that beat them to the title last season, the title might just swing North London’s way next season.
