When reading the long lists of comments each day I find myself lost in the psyches of lonesome, almost crazy individuals, angry and frustrated at the fact that someone, somewhere had the guts to possibly suggest their favourite player may be going to play for Skegness or whatever.
Of course that’s going to be said, somewhere, by someone, it’s the nature of transfer gossip. That’s precisely what it is, gossip.
But we love it don’t we? Football is the girliest thing men indulge in. The Premier League is like the world’s greatest soap opera and speculating about where Roy Hodgson might buy his next mediocre player is practically the same as getting excited about Tiffany possibly coming back to Walford.
And in all the mire, some of those reckless rumours circulating, will, ultimately be, rubbish. Here are what I think are the 5 biggest none starters come January!
5. Torres, Reina and Gerrard to leave Anfield
I’m not saying it’s not going to happen. But in January? No chance. Furthermore, I can’t see Stevie ever leaving the club now. He’s ageing and his valuation is still going to be outrageous. Torres and Reina could leave in the summer, but even that is a prospect that to me just seems a bit unbelievable. Liverpool need to improve soon to keep them though, Hodgson is a man under pressure.
4. United to sign anybody
Fergie will just make do, he always does. That said, I never ever believe him when he says “I’m not going to be spending in the transfer window” but this time I don’t think he really needs to. I also don’t see anyone leaving until the summer too. Though, if Karim Benzema becomes available in January, that might turn Fergie’s head.
3. Spurs to sell Gareth Bale
You could offer Harry a diamond encrusted gold turd laid upon the breast of a Soho prostitute and he would still say no. Bale is wanted by every manager in the world right now and his price is through the roof. No one will be able to afford him and he won’t be worth the punt off the back of a year of good form either. Summer though? It would take a monster bid.
2. Benitez to turn Inter Milan into Liverpool 09/10
Well they’ve practically all been linked at some point haven’t they? I think if Benitez did go down that road it would lead him to packing his bags by the end of the season for sure. As a red myself though, feel free to browse Rafa, we need changes pretty quickly.
1. Pep Guardiola to become Chelsea boss
I’m not saying Ancelotti won’t get sacked though!
Tomorrow check back for part 2! 5 Rumours that are dead certs for January.
