Not many players move between Liverpool and Everton nowadays, and judging by the heated moments fans of the red and blue sides of Merseyside have here in the Transfer Tavern, it’s easy to see why.
To say that the two sets of supporters don’t like one another would be an understatement. There’s a mutual respect there, yes, and family ties often come over club allegiance, but when matchday comes, the atmosphere is as bitter as it is intense.
So it’s understandable that Kopites have been revelling in the wake of reports that Romelu Lukaku has no desire to sign a new contract at Goodison Park, and some here in the Tavern have got so carried away that they’ve even been talking about signing the big Belgian from their rivals.
