Our Manchester City fans are still dreaming of the league title here in the Transfer Tavern and with The Daily Mail reporting that Virgil Van Dijk could be on his way, that might still become a reality.
The Citizens had looked at the start of this season as though they were going to run away and hide with the league title but inconsistency and poor defending have caught them out and seen them fall behind Chelsea and Liverpool.
There’s still plenty of time for them to overhaul the pair, though, and with City, they know better than anyone it’s not over until it’s over.
Certainly, though, their defence needs work and that appears to have crossed Pep Guardiola’s mind with a £50 million move being mooted by the report.
The Dutchman, Van Dijk, has been in superlative form this season for Southampton with many here by the bar reckoning he’s the best in the league right now.
Our landlord think he’s certainly up there, too, and thinks if City manage to sign him up, they’ll take some real stopping this season.
