As Liverpool go in hunt of trophies next season, the club are already making waves in the transfer market, adding the likes of Naby Keita and Fabinho to the squad already as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to build on last season.
Losing out in the Champions League final will no doubt hurt, but, it also provides a solid building block for the club to improve on and add too, and Klopp will know his squad are only a few players away from being right in the mix for the Premier League title.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord shares a similar view, and he thinks that the club should make a move for German striker Timo Werner this summer, a player who is valued at £54m by website Transfermarkt.
Werner has seen his stock rise over the last few seasons and once again was in impressive goalscoring form last term, knocking in 21 goals in all competitions.
A fully fledged member of the German squad now, Werner will no doubt get his move to one of the giants of the game at some point, and he would be a superb addition for Liverpool.
Already with eight goals for his country, Werner is one to watch this summer. With Liverpool struggling when Roberto Firmino is out, signing another striker capable of knocking in the goals and linking up with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, could well prove key to the Reds adding to their trophy cabinet.
