A certain Spurs fan propped up at the bar in the Transfer Tavern is always describing Gylfi Sigurdsson as the ultimate ‘big fish in a small pond’ player, but that has not put Everton off of the Iceland international, with reports from ESPN claiming they are keen on the Swansea hero.
‘Siggy’ has been the Swans’ standout performer in what has been a difficult season at the Liberty Stadium, with his eight goals (his overall tally is nine given his solitary EFL Cup strike) and 11 assists in the Premier League one of the major reasons the Welsh team are not already relegated.

And it seems his exploits may earn him a move away from the club this summer, with reports claiming Everton keen to land Sigurdsson as they aim to keep pace with the division’s big six.
The Toffees are currently seventh, but not even Romelu Lukaku’s 19 goals have been enough to close the gap between themselves and Manchester United, which stands at two points, albeit the Red Devils have two games in hand.
ESPN believe Ronald Koeman sees Sigurdsson as the sort of player who can add even more of a creative spark to his team, while they also float the idea of him replacing Ross Barkley, whose contract saga is reportedly attracting some big teams.
Everton signed Ashley Williams from Swansea last year, so there is a chance the central defender could persuade his old team-mate to follow him to Goodison Park.
