£9m-rated England man is the only Cech replacement Arsenal need to sign this summer

The Arsenal fans in and around the Transfer Tavern found themselves let down by a number of their first-team players last season, which they hope new boss Unai Emery can amend in the transfer market.

The Gunners stumbled to another season without Champions League qualification in what wasn’t, unfortunately, the perfect send off for long-standing manager Arsene Wenger. Because of this, Arsenal will be keen to patch up problems from last season, starting with replacing Petr Cech with Burnley’s Nick Pope our punters hope, who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt.

Cech, who has been brilliant throughout his time in the Premier League, was last season found to make too many mistakes, something that isn’t acceptable for a side like Arsenal. On the other hand, Burnley’s shot-stopper Nick Pope was so good that he now finds himself in the England World Cup squad this summer. The 26-year-old was number 2 to Tom Heaton after arriving at Turf Moor in 2016 but after Heaton picked up a season-ending injury, Pope stepped up to prove the doubters very, very wrong.

Pope made 35 Premier League appearances, conceding just 35 goals and picking up 13 clean-sheets within that time to be named as one of the best goalkeepers of the season. Arsenal will be amongst a number of other teams contesting his signature after his brilliant Premier League breakthrough season and Unai Emery would be sure to make a sturdy addition in the place of the ageing Petr Cech.

Nick Pope, if capable of living up to his high standards from last season, would certainly be a strong addition at the Emirates and one the fans could get behind despite not being a massive name.
