Manchester City fans are satisfied with their start to the new Premier League season.

Pep Guardiola’s men looked comfortable as they bought a 2-0 victory back to the blue half of Manchester from Brighton in the opening game of the season and even though Everton grabbed a point at the Etihad, our landlord believes things look bright for the Citizens for the new season.

One positive highlighted by our resident City fans has been the acquisitions made by Pep Guardiola which have really seemed to have sorted out the issues that held City back last season but they are keen for one or two transfers to just boost their squad before the transfer window slams shut.

Our landlord agrees that one or two new signings may well make the City squad almost untouchable and he is touting one last attempt from Guardiola to make a really big statement by bringing a superstar to the Etihad.

He has a couple of names in mind and has been discussing his thoughts in the Tavern and it’s safe to say that the City fans are frothing at the mouths at the thought of another superstar coming through the gates at the Etihad.

Here are the two players our landlord feels City should consider making a last minute move for…

Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean has been linked with City all summer and a late bid may well tempt Arsenal to sell, especially as they seem no closer to tying up a contract extension for their star man.

It is no secret that Alexis wants to play Champions League football and as City can offer him that, it means that they have a fantastic chance of landing the 28-year-old who Arsene Wenger won’t want to let go on a free when next summer comes around.

Jonny Evans

They’ve been in for him once and our landlord believes that Guardiola will come again to try and land Jonny Evans from West Brom to shore up his defence.

Evans, a former United player, is a real lynch pin in the Baggies defence and although he has missed the first few games of the season due to injury, it would be a massive blow to West Brom should the Northern Irish international leave the club.

City fans in the Tavern would actually be happy to see Evans at their club, despite his previous ties with arch rivals, United. The reasons being his no nonsense defending and Champions League experience.
