It’s been a terrible week for Sam Allardye and Crystal Palace, whose fans here in the Transfer Tavern are deeply concerned about his ability to keep them in the division going forward!

After the 4-0 thumping by Sunderland last weekend, the game against Stoke on Saturday provides a chance to bounce back and show the Palace fans what they’re capable of.

But it’s going to be no easy task in the slightest- Stoke have got some good players in their squad and they’ll be up for the game after seeing just how poor Palace were against the Black Cats last time out.

And after such a poor showing, there are plenty of Eagles fans here in the pub that would like to see Allardyce change it up and bring some new players into the team for the game against the Potters.

So with that in mind, here’s two players Allardyce must start against the Potters before his own fans start turning on him…

Jeffrey Schlupp

It’s going to be a late call but if Jeffrey Schlupp is fully fit for the game against Stoke, he could be the exact player to throw into the mix to change things up for Palace.

The winter signing from Leicester is as versatile as they come and could start on the wing or at full-back and could prove to be somewhat of a secret weapon, depending on how Stoke have predicted Palace will line up.

He’s got bags of pace, energy and strength and could be the exact option Palace have been missing over the past couple of weeks.

Jason Puncheon

There are plenty of people calling for Andros Townsend to return to the first-team for this one but right now, Palace need players that are going to really work hard for the side.

Townsend was hotly linked with a return back to Newcastle in the transfer window and he might not be the sort of player to get Palace out of the mess they currently find themselves in.

Puncheon meanwhile knows the club well and what it really means for Palace to do well in the Premier League. He’s a tricky little player when he’s at his best and he could prove to be a handy selection for the game on Saturday.
