Are these the 3 best Liverpool goals of all-time?

The Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern had a tough time nailing down this list…

Whilst they have struggled in recent years, the Liverpool fans here in the Tavern will be the first to tell you how good Liverpool were ‘back in the day’.

They have been at the centre of many jokes here in the Tavern for their focus on how good their history is, rather than their present – but our landlord definitely accepts the fact that they were a class above the rest in the not-too-distant past.

Perhaps as famous as the results at Anfield are the unbelievable goals that were scored in front of the Liverpool faithful – with Liverpool’s highlight reels often on display on the phones of the Reds here in the Tavern.

With that said, our landlord has asked the Liverpool fans to try and nail down all of these goals to the THREE best in Liverpool’s history.

It definitely wasn’t an easy task, but the Reds here in the Tavern think they have managed to pull it off.

So, are these the 3 best Liverpool goals of all-time? Let us know!

Terry McDermott vs Tottenham

Whilst not the most technical or skillful goal you’ll ever see, this goal makes the list for the simple fact that it is the most iconic end-to-end goal you will ever see.

The clip starts from an opposition corner, which is then cleared by the Liverpool defence.

Kenny Dalglish then pushes the ball forward, still in the opposition half – before a long-pass is shot across the field.

With acres of space ahead of him, Steve Heighway latches onto the ball before unleashing a devastating cross right onto the head of Terry McDermott.

An unbelievable end-to-end goal. If you ever need to show someone a goal to symbolise what the pinnacle of English football is; our landlord recommends this one.

Robbie Fowler vs Aston Villa

You’ll have to look past the knock-off commentary for this one – but this finish is definitely worth it!

Robbie Fowler is no stranger to a top class goal; and this one is definitely described as such.

Receiving the ball from still some distance from goal, Fowler produces an outrageous turn to get past an Aston Villa defender, before dribbling the ball a few yards forward and firing it into the top corner of the net.

This goal has everything; technique, precision, and power. What a finish.

Michael Owen vs Newcastle United

This goal is the stuff of legend here in the Football Transfer Tavern.

This goal, not too dissimilar to that of which he scored for England, crushed any doubts amongst the punters here in the Tavern that Michael Owen was not something special.

The audacity to want to dribble past one, let alone two defenders – whilst sprinting at full speed – and then finishing it off with a little chip over the goalkeeper.

This goal inspired a great many young football fan here in the Football Transfer Tavern – and it is our landlords pick for his favourite Liverpool goal in recent memory.
