Arsenal: Club reportedly offered three different players in attempts to sign Thomas Partey

Arsenal are clearly desperate to bolster their midfield by bringing in Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey as they reportedly are willing to swap one of three players to try and sweeten the deal.

According to The Sun, Arsenal have offered the La Liga side either Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette or Lucas Torreira in a deal which would also involve some money as well.

The problem at the moment is that Atletico are holding out for someone to activate the £45 million release clause that Partey, who has won two European trophies (Europa League and UEFA Super Cup), currently has.

The midfielder is solid in the middle of the pitch and supports the Atletico Madrid defence greatly as he has managed two successful tackles and 1.4 interceptions per match, whilst also averaging 1.9 successful dribbles a game, per WhoScored.

It will be very interesting to see what happens next as Arsenal have been desperate to sign the player for some time and they need to improve in the defensive aspects of their squad. This is highlighted by the fact they leaked 48 Premier League goals last season and only kept 10 clean sheets.

At the age of 27, he could be perfect for Arsenal for the next few years and could allow the attacking talent around him to have more freedom as he would surely add steel to the midfield, judging by his statistics for Atletico in recent months.

If the club could involve him in a swap deal for Torreira, it would be great business as he is not started a lot at the Gunners as of late, and the fact that Partey is desperately wanted by the club highlights that he would come straight into the starting eleven.

However Alexandre Lacazette and Hector Bellerin are quite crucial at the moment, and this is highlighted by the amount of game time they have had since football returned, and therefore a swap deal involving one of these two doesn’t seem like the smartest idea, especially when they play in different positions to Partey and would therefore leave the Gunners light in either attack or right-back.
