Arsenal: Fabrizio Romano provides update on Malang Sarr

It was being reported last week that Arsenal were interested in Ligue 1 defender Malang Sarr, and Sky Sports Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the possible transfer.

Romano was asked by a fan on Twitter about the situation regarding the centre-back, and he replied, saying: “Malang Sarr is in talks with Bundesliga/Serie A clubs.”

The defender is set to be available on a free transfer in the summer, but from this latest update, it looks like he does not fancy the Premier League.

Arsenal should be disappointed by the fact that he looks to be moving elsewhere. Sarr is 21 and has many years to develop into an even better player.

His statistics from this campaign show the potential that he has, as he averages 1.9 interceptions and 1.4 clearances a game, per WhoScored. He has also been selected for the France under-21 side six times and being noticed by the nation which won the last World Cup suggests that he has what it takes to feature at a high level.

The fact that he was available on a free also would have been very helpful for Mikel Arteta, as he has stressed that the club might not be able to support him well financially in the transfer window.

Therefore the Gunners should maybe be tempted to offer the player more wages to bring him to the club as they will not have to spend transfer money on him, but for now it looks like Arteta will sadly have to look elsewhere.

Gunners fans, do you think you can still tempt Sarr to join the club? Comment below!
