However, Unai Emery’s side aren’t the only European club interested in the 17-year-old, with Manchester City, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Juventus also thought to want the youngster (Mundo Deportivo via The Metro).

The player is under contract with Brazilian club Flamengo until 2020 and has a release clause estimated to be £60m.

Should a deal be completed, Reinier would be the second Brazilian teenager to join Arsenal in just under a year, following in the footsteps Gabriel Martinelli, who joined from Ituano.

Fans were excited for a potential move of the highly-courted youngster as they took to Twitter to beg the club to complete the signing.
