Arsenal fans have been bemoaning a potential transfer of Dries Mertens after the club were linked with a move for the Napoli attacker.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio (via @afcstuff), the Gunners have made an initial approach for the Belgian over a free transfer in the summer transfer window. The move comes amid a potential reshuffle in the side’s attack with Alexandre Lacazette having been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid (via Marca). Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly told Mikel Arteta he wants to leave the club (via The Times).
One fan made his feelings on the Belgium international crystal clear:

Mertens has endured a tough season in Serie A this year, having scored just four goals in 16 league games. However, he has enjoyed a far greater time in the Champions League, scoring five goals across six group games as the Italian side qualified for the knockout stages (via Transfermarkt).
In comparison to Mikel Arteta’s striking duo, Mertens averages more shots per game in the league than both Lacazette and Aubameyang. However, fans were left scratching their heads over a potential move for the player as they took to Twitter to react to the report. Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
