Unai Emery has come under fire from fans since Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Monday night, but he was in a defiant mood as he faced the media ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash against Vitoria SC. The Spaniard discussed the criticism and how the team must respond in the coming weeks.
He said: “In my career, it’s normal to have criticism of our work in the difficult moments, of my job, our team, the players. we have the supporters and their opinion, and we need to accept that. My focus is improving in the next match, seeing how we can improve on things.” (Quotes via Arsenal.com)
Fans on Twitter weren’t as understanding of his position as Emery might have hoped, with many calling for the manager to be sacked. The club posted a link to the transcript of the press conference on their official Twitter account and the fans voiced their views loud and clear.
