Arsenal fans weren’t best pleased after they were linked with a move for Napoli forward Dries Mertens.
According to Il Mattino (via Napoli Magazine), the Gunners have joined Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur in showing concrete interest in the 32-year-old Belgium international, who will be a free agent next summer.
Do Arsenal need to sack Emery to finish in the top 4?
Yes
No
Unai Emery already added to his forward line in last summer’s transfer window, having signed Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano and Nicolas Pepe from Lille.
However, the two have combined for just two goals in the Premier League this season, with the club scoring just 16 goals in their 12 games (via Premier League).
On the field, Arsenal have been struggling, having won just two of their last 10 league games of the season (via WhoScored). And it seems the fans weren’t too happy over the prospective arrival of Mertens from Naples, as they took to Twitter to react with displeasure.
Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:

We are showing interest in getting a state of the art bus for the club but with an incompetent driver. It will end in a crash
