Arsenal fans were left rather surprised by the reports that former manager Arsène Wenger is close to agreeing a deal to become the new boss of AC Milan.
France Football, via Marca, broke the news on Monday afternoon and football fans, particularly Gunners’ fans have reacted to the idea of seeing Wenger, who spent 22 years at the North London club, in charge of another team.
The seven-time European champions Milan are believed to have given up on former player and current manager Gennaro Gattuso as the man to take them back to the top of Italian football and feel the 69-year-old Wenger might be a better option for that to be achieved.
The Frenchman indicated last week that he is close to returning to football after taking some time off since leaving Arsenal in May and have also been linked with the Real Madrid job after Julen Lopetegui was given his marching orders last Monday.
