Arsenal fans are lauding Joe Willock after the young midfielder saved his side’s bacon with a clearance on the line late on in the 2-2 draw against Southampton.
With the score at 2-1 to the Saints, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men broke on Unai Emery’s side with Moussa Djenepo having his shot cleared by the England youth international with the goal gaping. (via BBC).
Willock only came on in the 83rd minute for midfielder Lucas Torreira in what was his 10th Premier League appearance of the season (via Transfermarkt).
The afternoon proved to be a disaster for the north London giants as they were booed off despite the game being rescued by Alexandre Lacazette, who scored a late equaliser.
Fans were full of praise for the midfielder after his clearance seemed to save the Gunners from suffering their first home loss of the season as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
A young talented player like Willock deserves so much better than Emery.

good coverage by Willock, but the defense is being badly caught out too often…..a Liverpool or Man City would have made certain of that…..not good enough
