Arsenal face a tough festive run over the next few weeks. The Gunners have seven games between now and New Year’s day, with two of those coming against Tottenham and Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and Premier League respectively. However, whilst the fixture list looks daunting, the returning Mesut Ozil will make it seem a lot easier.

Unai Emery has confirmed that Mesut Ozil will be playing a part in the club’s home tie against Qarabag later at The Emirates and whilst it’s not exactly the glamorous tie that the German playmaker is used to be involved in, Emery will be determined to see his star man thrive and make the difference in their final Europa League group stage match, and with Southampton away on Saturday Ozil will be playing for his place.
The timing of Ozil’s return couldn’t be better. At times this season Emery has opted to leave the German out, wwith some away games being clashes that just don’t suit the German. It’s yet to be decided whether or not Sunday’s trip to the south coast is one of those, but next Wednesday when they host Tottenham in the Carabao Cup will be one that Mesut Ozil will be desperate to feature in, as the Gunners eye a spot in the semi-finals at the expense of their North London rivals.

The Gunners are delighted to have Ozil back to fitness and will hope the German can help them through their tough Christmas run of fixtures.
