Alex Iwobi has had a mixed start to the Premier League season. In Arsenal’s opening seven games he’s started twice, come off the bench twice, missed two games through illness and been an unused substitute once. However, after his display against Watford off the bench on Saturday, a lot of fans are calling for him to start in the Premier League.

The Nigerian winger has got all the attributes needed to be an effective winger in the Premier League. He can both create and score goals, provide himself as an outlet on the wing and is capable of beating his man in a one-on-one situation and the fans are calling for him to be given a starting berth in the upcoming Premier League fixtures against the likes of Fulham and Leicester City.
Against Watford on Saturday Iwobi didn’t get a goal or an assist but his impact off the bench changes the game. The winger came on for just under half an hour’s worth of action and his ability to get the ball at his feet and drive at the opposition was crucial in forcing Watford into making mistakes and winning the game. In the end, it was a fairly comfortable 2-0 scoreline as a Craig Cathcart own goal and Mesut Ozil strike within just two minutes of each other sealed the win for The Gunners, and it was Iwobi’s impact that made the difference.
