For a long time yesterday it looked very much like Wolves were going to snatch a huge three points from Unai Emery’s side at The Emirates. An early Ivan Cavaleiro goal saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s side take a shock lead and it wasn’t until Henrikh Mkhitaryan equalised from the bench that the Arsenal fans could breathe normally again.

Arsenal’s Armenian midfielder has fallen out of favour in recent weeks and had come under heavy fire for his performances, although when he was brought on off the bench yesterday he looked like a man on a mission and he proved his point with his goal that silenced the travelling Wolves fans. It was a goal that came at the perfect time for both the player and the club, and the fans have been lauding him for grabbing it.
So far this season, Unai Emery has looked to the likes of Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil ahead of Mkhitaryan but the Armenian midfielder does bring big goals and provides end product at times when it is desperately needed. He may not be the most effective player in the world but when he’s song he’s hard to stop and that’s what Wolves found out yesterday when he found the net to give the home side a point, preserving their 16-match unbeaten run.

The fans who have been giving Mkhitaryan stick over the last few weeks will have been very quiet last night as most of The Gunners jumped to celebrate their midfielder’s last-gasp equaliser.
