Arsenal fans on Twitter lavish praise on sublime Leno

As a goalkeeper, every now and again a game will come around where you save your side from what looks like a certain defeat. Whilst it’s usually the goalscorers and the frontmen that get the credit for late equalisers and getting their out of tough moments, yesterday it was Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal who saved his side from what looked like a certain defeat.

Leno’s Arsenal career has been stellar so far. The German came to the club over the summer from Bayer Leverkusen, although his transfer was overshadowed by the news that Jack Wilshere would be leaving The Emirates as the news was broken on the same day. However, Wilshere is now a distant memory whilst Leno continues to shine, saving his side valuable points like the one yesterday against Wolves.

Without the German in the net, there is no way that Arsenal would have taken anything from their home clash against Nuno Espirito Santo’s valiant Wolves. Ivan Cavaleiro’s early strike set the tone and if it wasn’t for some heroic goalkeeping from the Gunners new German import then things would have looked very different for them. When Petr Cech returns from injury he’ll have a lot to do to get back in the team, although for now, the fans aren’t thinking about Cech as they continue to laud Leno.
