Yesterday was Nwankwo Kanu’s birthday and plenty of Arsenal fans have been looking back over the Nigerian frontman’s best moments in an Arsenal shirt. Plenty of fans have had their say and by unanimous decision, the Gunners are remembering his superb hat-trick away at Chelsea as his finest moment.

Kanu celebrated his 42nd birthday yesterday and he’ll be hoping that his former club can give him a belated birthday present against Manchester City a week on Sunday when they open their Premier League campaign against Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions. The Gunners will be hoping that a different African striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can take inspiration from Kanu’s treble against Chelsea 19 years ago to put the Citizens to the sword.
That game against Chelsea will live long in the memory of Arsenal fans and none of the supporters would be adverse to seeing Kanu join the club in the capacity of a coach or as a club ambassador. The striker spent four and a half years at Arsenal after joining from Inter Milan in January 1999 before leaving on a free transfer to West Brom in summer 2004, and those years will not be forgotten easily by the Gunners.
